To view a slideshow of 200 large photos of this Triumph, please go here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/39622340@N05/sets/72157629878786003/show/ **Before bidding, PLEASE READ** Cars2K is listing this car AS-IS. IT IS DISASSEMBLED AND DOES NOT RUN: · We are not making warranties as to this car’s fitness or originality. · We simply photographed and described it to the best of our ability. · Pre-bid inspections are welcome. Post bid inspections ARE NOT! · Please respect eBay’s rules for the auction’s stability! Amazingly, after sitting in a barn for over 20 years, the car is solid and an excellent candidate for restoration or the race track. This Triumph needs a complete restoration. Here is a list of our findings: · NON-IRS Model · Large dent in right, rear corner · Dent in lower, left rocker panel · Frame appears straight · Seats, upholstery, convertible top, weather stripping, many interior/exterior lights & trim items are missing · Sheet metal filled for Deleted Bumper/Trim look · Previous repair (welded on) left, front clip · Body panels are currently unbolted (great for current inspection, see detailed photos) · Rear ¼ panels were cut-off behind rear door but replacement panels are 100% complete & solid We obtained this car from a young man in Whittier, CA who claims to have bought it from the original owner here in Southern California, an older gentleman who had it in his barn since the 1980’s. As the story goes, “The old man began a body and paint restoration but health problems prevented him from completing.” Unfortunately, we don’t have any documentation to verify original ownership however CA DMV records indicate the last year the car was registered was in 1988 and remained “non-op” status for the last 24 years. The license tags have since been renewed. When the younger man took the car, he removed some trim and filled the holes for a deleted look but his project came to a halt when he ran out of time and money. So here it is, offered for the first time on eBay with NO RESERVE PRICE! There is a repaired section of the driver’s side floorboard and the battery shelf is rusted (typical rust-prone areas). There is also some rust along the upper fender mounts (lots of detailed photos of this). Some welding will be required to secure the front valence/front inner fenders and the rear 1/4 panels at the door post. Everything else should bolt back on. All remaining panels and frame appear 100% solid with only moderate surface rust in some areas but a good sand-blasting and rust-prohibiting primer should do the job. With everything apart, why not do a nice job prep & painting then assemble after? Please carefully examine the 200 photos provided on the above link. If you can get through them, there shouldn’t be any mystery as to this TR’s physical and cosmetic condition. As for mechanical; we have only determined that the engine does crank over and the oil gauge indicates oil pressure. Other than that, the mechanics are unknown. At minimum, after sitting 20 years, all brakes, hydraulics and fuel components will need to be gone through; possibly the motor as well. Please bid accordingly. What you see in the photos is what you get…nothing more and nothing less. If you are not a seasoned collector, mechanic or have access to one, please make sure you know what you’re getting into. It is our goal that this classic car finds a great new home with someone who is informed and prepared for such a project. Although the body panels are not currently bolted on, everything you see in the photos will be included and secured in or on the car for shipment. Currently in dry storage, it rolls and steers freely and the parking brake does work. Finally, we welcome your questions and comments; good or bad. Anything of importance (good or bad) will be posted at the bottom in the Q & A. Currently, we have a clear, CA Title. Local sales tax and DMV transfer fees apply to residents in CA. No CA Smog Certificate is required to complete Title transfer here in CA as 1967 year model vehicles are exempt from smog. All questions must be answered and all inspections must be completed PRIOR TO BIDDING. Proof of insurance will be required for a test drive. This Triumph is being sold in AS-IS CONDITION and comes with absolutely NO WARRANTIES EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. But the factory warranty is still in effect. The miles displayed on the speedometer are not accurate. We are proud to have a 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK score. Bid with confidence, knowing everything represented in this auction is accurate. BIDDERS WITH ZERO OR NEGETIVE FEEDBACK MUST EMAIL US FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO BIDDING OR THEIR BID WILL BE CANCELED. This Triumph’s present condition and buying terms have been described as accurately as possible. If you have ANY questions or want to bring a mechanic to inspect, please email us PRIOR TO BIDDING. You will receive a prompt response. What a great opportunity to purchase a surviving example of the classic, Triumph TR4. With No Reserve it is sure to be an outstanding investment for the winning bidder and once restored, a joy to drive for many years to come. Thank you, good luck and Happy Bidding!
