Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1948 Ford F3 Flatbed Truck. It has a clear Texas title. The truck was stored in a barn for approximately 20 years in Wisconsin before I bought it in 2007 and it has been stored in a garage in Texas ever since then. The flat head 6-cylender engine is original to the truck and it runs. The engine had not been started in the 20 years prior to when I bought it, and it was not frozen up. I got the engine started with little effort and it has been fine tuned by local mechanics over the past two years. I have driven the truck approximately 300 miles since 2007. Recently, the engine developed a backfire and I had the points replaced which seemed to fix the problem for a while. The truck started to backfire again and I parked it in storage about a week ago. I have too many projects and just don’t have the time to see what’s going on with the engine right now. Here’s what I have replaced or fixed on the truck: · The standard transmission works well and is original to the truck. · The bench seat was re-upholstered in black vinyl and it looks great. · The starter was replaced with a rebuilt starter from Mac's Antique Auto Parts. · All four break Cylinders and all of the steel and rubber flex break lines as well as the master cylinder have been replaced. The stop light switch that screws into the master cylinder was also replaced. · All break shoes have been replaced. · The “widow-maker” (split rim) wheels where shipped to Stockton Wheel in California where the centers were cut out of the wheel and a new tubeless doughnut exterior rim was manufactured to fit perfectly on the original centers. The result is a wheel that fits the truck (because the centers are original to the truck) and a modern tubeless rim that was built to the original 1948 F3 Ford specifications. Stockton Wheel also powder coated the wheels is black. · The tires were custom ordered (7.50X17/8) to look exactly like the original factory tires that came on the F3. They are black-wall and tubeless · The gas tank was removed and restored to original and reinstalled in the truck. · The wiring was professionally re-done by a local shop and the headlights, breaklights, blinkers, and all electrical systems work. · The carburetor was rebuilt last year by a professional rebuilder. · Spark plug wires were replaced as well as radiator hoses and fan belt. · New u-joints · New oil pan gasket · New 6-volt battery and cables · Newly installed “kill switch” under the hood next to the battery · Original heater works, and heater hoses have been replaced · New distributor cap · New front wheel bearings and seals. · Front windshield is original with no scratches or chips. Side door windows are not broken and roll up and down with ease. · Doors open and close easily. · Original ignition key · Push-button starter is new · Numerous other miscellaneous parts have been replaced all over this truck. The truck cab has the usual small dents here and there but is generally in very good shape. No rust holes. There is miner surface rust on the white paint in the front grill near the headlights. The running boards are solid. The front chrome grill has a few dents. I planned to replace the grill (you can easily get a replacement from Mac’s Antique Auto parts) but I never got around to it. The flat bed is original and it will probably need to be replaced. It suited my purpose so I never replaced it. All of the original chrome is still on the truck. You will need to trailer the truck in order to transport it from its current location just north of Houston (Montgomery, Texas zip code 77356) to your home. I really don’t want to sell this truck, but I have way too many other project vehicles that I need to finish and something has to go. The winning bidder will make a non-refundable $1,000 Payment through PayPal within three days of winning bid. Balance is to be paid in 5 days through PayPal, or cashier’s check, or cash. This truck is also being offered for sale locally and can be removed from eBay at any time. Please take a look at the pictures and email with any questions.
