Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1951 International Harvester Pickup Truck, Model L-110, 1/2 Ton, short box. The truck starts and runs well and has been garage stored for at least the last 6 years. This truck always draws lots of attention, smiles and waves. It sparks memories with anyone who ever had an "ol' binder" back on the farm- so much more unique than a Ford or Chevy from the same era! The truck is mostly original including the 6 cylinder Silver Diamond 220 engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Electrical system is 6 volt, positive ground with newer battery. Chrome front bumper, hood ornament and grill trim, side-mounted spare tire with fender cutout, hood opens from either side, cowl vent, oil bath air cleaner, functional vacuum powered windshield wipers, dual rear windows, all glass is intact, original chrome door and window handles, no major dents or rust damage. An electronic fuel pump was added and the bed floor was replaced with oak. I'm told the oak is from an old bowling alley floor in St. Louis. The seat, door and ceiling panels have been reupholstered with a gray velour. I purchased the truck in 2005 from Classic Motorcycle Company in St. Louis, MO and redid the interior but little else. According to the seller the original owner was Stix, Baer & Fuller (a retail department store in St. Louis). It was sold to Bissell Truck Repair in St. Louis in 1964 and used as a company truck for parts deliveries. They restored/repainted it at some point (80's or 90's?) and sold it to Classic Motorcycle Company in 2004. Truck was inspected by Nebraska DMV when I first licensed it in 2006. Speedometer/odometer are in place but not working. May just need new cable. Odometer shows 14,907 but actual mileage is unknown. This truck is in terrific shape for being over 60 years old but it does have some rough spots including a scrape on the lower front fender and running board on the passenger side, some minor rust and paint flaking on the front bed panel and some minor rust on the dash. It could easily be restored to original condition, customized, or just driven and enjoyed as is. I take it on errands around town and occasionally on a weekend drive in the country. It's nice enough to put in a local auto show but you can still drive it down a gravel road without worrying about chipping the paint. My family (especially the grandkids) will all miss the old binder but I just don't have the time or space for it and have to let it go. Contact me if you'd like more details. Thanks for looking and good luck!
