Vehicle Detail
This started as a 1969 Firebird 350 auto car, A friend of mine purchased the car in the early 90’s and changed it over to a 400 4-speed. I bought the car from him in 2007 and drove it straight to a local shop that specializes in classic car restoration. We stripped the car down to the last nut and bolt and started a rotisserie restoration. I decided that since the car was not numbers matching, I had a blank canvas and could create whatever I wanted to. That’s when I decided to do a Trans Am tribute. While the car was on the rotisserie I sent the sub-frame, upper and lower control arms, and the rear axle to be powder coated. I had a shop close by remove the 2:72 rear end and put in a 3:55 Eaton posi with Moser gears. I ordered a Tremac TKO 600 5 speed transmission, and a Hotchkis TVS (Total Vehicle Suspension) which lowered the front of the car 1½” and the rear of the car ¾”, this kit upgraded the front sway bar to 1 1/8” and added a 7/8” rear stabilizer. The Interior was completely redone including sound deadening, carpet, seats, dash, and white face gauges. When it came time to paint the car I went with 1970 Polar White (brighter than the 69 cameo white) and for the stripes I went with 67 Lemans Blue (darker than the 69 Lucerne blue). The rear pan was rolled to give it a seamless look and the corner markers on the front fenders were eliminated. Issues with the car: · The rear quarter windows need to be adjusted to match the convertible top · One small crack in the narrow plastic piece between the front bumper and the rubber seal that meets the hood. The car was completed in June of 2010, and taken to several car shows were it received either 1st place or best of show. The car is sold as is where is and any shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. Any questions please call me at 712-574-7991.
