Vehicle Detail
1962 Mercedes 220 4dr A solid, nearly rust free 220 SE that spent all of its life in a garage. My father bought this car on a vacation trip to Disneyland in Anaheim in the mid 1980's. The original owner was a doctor, who took very good care of it. He bought it from the second owner. They cancelled their return flight and drove the car home to Texas with no problems. Once they had it home, they bought new tires, and had air conditioning installed, and took it to Washington State the next year. Over the course of the next ten years or so they drove it on several vintage car tours, always keeping it stored inside and only driving it in nice weather. More antique/classic cars were acquired, and this car went to the back of the garage, occassionally started and ran but rarely driven. At this point my Father no longer drives, as his vision has deteriorated and it is time to part with a 30 year collection. I put a new battery in it, put air in the tires, drained the old fuel, replaced a questionable piece of fuel hose underneath the vehicle, and it started right up. This is a real testament to the quality of this vehicle. I drove it a short distance, no problems. That being said I wouldn't drive this car very far or very fast on tires this old, that sat flat for several years. I'm sure it uses a little oil, and could use a set of points/plugs/condenser; some of the rubber fuel lines look a little weak. Here is a link to a movie of the engine running. At the end of the photo series I have highlighted all of the blemishes. If there is any specific area of the vehicle you need pictures of, or any other information that you need, please don't hestitate to ask. You can pick this up just outside of Kerrville, TX or we can work out delivery options with you. You must leave a $250 deposit within 3 days of the close of the auction or we will relist. This is where we used to tell people how flexible we were with payment methods, and that they could choose the best shipper. Under the new rules all we can say is that we truly despise PayPal and thier exorbitant fees but EBAY forces us to take it. We should probably add the 40 lines of disclaimer we see other private sellers do, but we have never had a problem with anybody..
