I have an opportunity to purchase a share in an aircraft, so with reluctance, I'm selling my Porsche 968. I purchased this car from a Porsche mechanic who babied it, but had to sell due to a divorce. I've owed several 944's so I jumped at the chance to buy this car. The timing belt & water pump were replaced at 74,000 in 2010. Since getting it, I replaced the OEM rims with 911 rims & Pirelli P-Zero Rosso 17" tires. The tires are staggered, 9" in the back & 7" in the front. They have less than 3,000 miles on them. The brakes are all in excellent shape, as are the rotors. The paint is in very nice condition considering it is a 17 year old car, but there are a few dings & scratches & fade spots. The paint resembles a 5 year old car, not a 17 year old car. The previous owners wife pulled in too close to a parking curb & ripped the lowest front spoiler section out. It really doesn't look terrible, so I never replaced it. There are no cracks or splits in the dash, however the material has begun to spread near the defroster vents. The seats are upgraded 8 way power, heated seats removed from an '05 Porsche 911 & are VERY comfortable & in remarkable condition. The top is original & the back window is hazed over, but included in this auction is a brand new custom top in the original box, having never been opened. I just never got around to having it replaced. The existing top doesn't have any tears in it, just the back window is crazed & has a broken seam. The power top does not work. You can hear the motor engage & the windows go up & down, but you have to lift the top manually (very light & easy to do.) The stereo has been replaced with a Sony AM/FM CD & the rear speakers were upgraded with 2 way 4x6 speakers. Factory Porsche script floor mats are included, as are 2 keys. A black top cover that hides the convertible top when recessed is included too. The factory air conditioning works, but doesn't blow super cold like it should. I'm going to get it recharged & will update this listing. The power windows work just fine, as do the headlights, wipers, etc. The only other glitch is the temperature gauge initially reads MAX & after a bit of driving, it settles down to normal. I don't know whats wrong, gauge or sending unit. The speedometer, odometer, trip meter, tachometer, etc all work fine. The clutch is solid, as are the brakes, exhaust & drive train. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this 3.0 liter 6 speed across the country. I've set a low opening bid with no reserve. I welcome anyone to inspect the car & even encourage it. Please abide by the terms of ebay when placing a bid. Have your funds in order. I will not accept any kind of check, only a wire transfer or cash. I will email photos for your examination of anything you'd like to see. I've been researching these cars for a while & think my car at its opening bid is a VERY good deal. On Mar-20-12 at 15:52:27 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that I do drive this car, so the mileage will change slightly. The analog clock works fine, but the small display showing the outside temperature quit working about 2 months ago. The temperature display is all black now. The Airbag light is on & I was told by the previous owner that it came on after reinstalling a battery after a few months of not being driven. The nearest Porsche facility that can reset that light is over 50 miles away from me. I swung by to get it reset, but they were swamped & could not fit me in. The factory spare tire, jack & small tool bag are included. The cigarette lighter is not shown in the photo but is included (I am not a smoker & use the cigarette plug for the GPS or cell phone charger. The rims have absolutely no curb rash or damage.
