Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 This is a one owner 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass. It was the first new car my wife ever bought. Consequently she saved the original window sticker (it has faded over the years). It has 84,091 actual miles on it. It has been garaged and/or warehoused since the time it was bought. Now for the downside; in 1997 we decided to have it rebuilt for our daughter who was turning 16. It was running but the transmission leaked and it ran rough. The mechanic we made arrangements with was doing the work in his home garage after regular hours (yeah, not a great idea in hindsight). Since our daughter just started driving he suggested it be outfitted with disk brakes, install new tempered (?) valve seats, and new transmission. The engine was overhauled; we acquired disk brakes and a 3 speed transmission, new wheels, tires, replacement panels from Canada to replace the rusted finders, and reupholstered seats. He worked on it part time for three years. In 2000 we picked the car up because it was taking so long and lost confidence he would ever have time to complete the work. The car was mostly disassembled when we picked it up. We put the bumpers, chrome, and other components in the trunk and back seat of the car. When we got it home we hooked a battery to it put some gas in the carburetor and turned it over and ran it for about 10 seconds w/o the radiator hooked up. We shut it off, took it to a enclosed storage facility where it still sits. It has set in a storage shed since then, so expect the usual problems associated with a car setting for years in a dry environment where the shed door was opened less than a ½ dozen times since being stored (dried seals, etc.). We no longer have a desire to rebuild it and want to sell it as is. Included are pictures of under the car (floorboard is sound), the rust on the front finders (replacement panels from Canada are included, but not installed - welded), engine, parts removed in preparation of painting, etc. I did not remove the components stored in the trunk, but you can see the hinges and interior is sound. If the reserve is not met I will part it out. Payment has to be via PayPal. I have never sold on ebay before so there I have no seller record. Buyer must make a $200 deposit within 72 hours of winning bid. I will gladly work with the buyer in arranging delivery. However, the price and arrangement for delivery has to be arranged separately. Delivery will require a flatbed truck. I have no experience in making such arrangements, so keep this in mind as you contemplate how you will transport the vehicle. The storage facility is located close to the corner of Page and Lindbergh Boulevard, Saint Louis, MO.
