Terms & Conditions Please read through all of the terms and conditions of this sale – it is well worth your time even if they are long and through. These terms have been revised and adjusted based on what we have learned in nearly a decade of selling vehicles on eBay. These conditions are there to protect both the seller and buyer and to let you know what to expect from this sale. We are not responsible for anything that you chose not to read. We have a regular sales facility complete with office, lot and shop. We are members of the Cumberland Maine Business Association and strive to be a valued member of our community. Although we were founded in 2011, our dealer principal has approximately 10 years of business experience selling vehicles online – and a lifetime of experience around cars, racecars, trucks and equipment. He has sold vehicles to customers all over the world on eBay. We maintain a full website that tells all about our business and us and invite you to check it out. We want you to learn about our business so you know that we are professionals and not a fly-by-night operation. The title will be released to the winning bidder once full payment is received. Due to financial institutions sometimes holding titles, there could be a slight delay in this process of 24-48 hours before you have a title in hand or overnight shipped to you. Rarely will this take any longer. If the buyer is a Maine resident, we will collect a $33 title fee from that buyer and submit that title application to the state on your behalf. All eBay sales include a State of Maine arbitration fee of $1. That is required by law, but we work it into our eBay prices. We do not charge any documentation or preparation fees. We do collect 5% sales tax from Maine residents only. That is a state law. Out of state buyers are responsible for paying sales tax in their home states and localities as required by law. Advance notice of pick-up is requested. We maintain business hours on each weekday and can usually meet you on evenings and Saturdays to show a car or have you pick it up. By law, we are required to be closed for business on Sundays, but if the titlework is completed in advance and you just need to pick up a car on a Sunday, we might be able to make arrangements to have you do so. We try to work with all of our customers based on their needs. If you have different needs for a vehicle, please let us know as we have other cars and trucks in inventory that we could put up for auction and/or list on eBay by request. We also have other vehicles in the process of being prepped for sale and we can always look to find what you are in the market for. We buy our cars at auctions throughout New England and have access to thousands of vehicles out there, so it never hurts to ask. Please e-mail us any questions. If you are coming in from out of town, we will do our best to pick you up at the Portland, Maine airport (PWM) or the Portland, Maine Amtrak or bus stations. Please just let us know before you book your travel so we can coordinate schedules. We can also recommend local lodging if you are coming in from out of town. There are beaches, lobster pounds, outlet stores, lighthouses and all kinds of tourist attractions within 15 minutes of our dealership, so we recommend making a vacation to the Maine coast part of your car buying experience. We can also work with shippers and even recommend a few shippers who we have heard to have good reputations if you are having a car shipped. A deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours and full payment is required within seven days unless prior arrangements are made. If full payment is not received within that timeframe, your deposit will be forfeited to pay towards our eBay fees and costs to list this item. Your eBay bid is a legally binding contract. Please only bid if you have the intention of following through with your commitment to buy. You are responsible for arranging financing, but we will do our best to work with your financial institution to make everything easy. Most of our cars for sale come with 14-day temporary license plates. These are not available though to Massachusetts residents due to Massachusetts laws. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance. If a car is being sold as an unsafe vehicle that needs repair work (i.e. a fixer-upper), we will disclose that in the ad and advise you to have it towed or shipped from our dealership. Those cars should not be driven on the roads until they are repaired and properly inspected in your home state. I was one of the first dealers to sell vehicles on eBay and over the past decade, I’ve heard all kinds of excuses where someone’s wife, children, business partner, dog, burglar or pet goldfish has logged onto their account and “accidently” purchased an item. If it is your account, you will be responsible for your accounts. We are reasonable to work with, but cannot incur the costs from someone committing to a purchase and then changing their mind. A $200 non-performance charge will be assessed to any non-paying bidder. This will be in addition to any forfeited deposit. We will use the court system and/or collection agencies to collect that fee. If the legal system is used, we will also charge all legal fees to the non-paying bidder. This is how we make our living and it’s not a game to us. We reserve the right to waive these fees if you have a legit and documented issue that comes up, we are human beings after all, but we are also in business and need to pay our overhead . If a buyer comes to physically see a vehicle and they do not agree with the condition report that we have made, we will work with them to make things right and if they have a valid concern, we will release them from any commitment to buy. The majority of my buyers through the years have told me after the sale that their vehicle was even better than it was described. We strive for that kind of reaction from our customers. We request that vehicles be picked up within seven days of the sale unless other arrangements are made – but we are understanding of travel arrangements and can usually hold a car or relocate it to a storage facility if you ask us to. 1998 Mercury Mountaineer – similar to Ford Explorer. All Wheel Drive with a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and automatic overdrive transmission. This vehicle was recently traded into our dealership for a Volvo Station Wagon. It is being offered on eBay as a wholesale, as-is special that has not been serviced and it is priced accordingly. We have noted all of the good points and issues with this vehicle, so be sure to read the full description.
This SUV currently has 189,386 miles. It has a blue/gray exterior and a medium gray leather interior. It is equipped with cruise control, power windows, power door locks, power driver’s seat, power mirrors, an AM/FM stereo with CD Player and Cassette Player, an overhead console with outside temperature display and compass, leather seats, aluminum wheels, rear seat stereo and vent controls, a step and tow bumper, ventvisors and a roof rack. It was built in October, 1997.
This vehicle starts right up although the battery might need replacement in the coming months. It had to be jump-started after sitting for a week when we picked it up from our customer, but it has started for us every day even in colder weather. The charging system appears to work. The indicated oil pressure is good. The vehicle does not run hot.
I drove this vehicle back to the dealership and it runs and drives well. The transmission shifts well. The vehicle tracks straight and the front end feels tight. I had no issues while driving it.
The brakes feel good and the parking brake holds the car. One brake line has recently been replaced and the other ones should be replaced soon. They show rust on them, which would cause them to fail for purposes of a Maine State Safety Inspection. The rear brakes also need to be replaced soon.
The rear shocks leak and the front sway bar links have play in them. The rear stabilizer shock needs to be replaced. The support struts for the hood and the rear glass need to be replaced.
The tires are Dunlop Radial Rover A/Ts sized P235/75R15. All four tires have 8/32nds of tread remaining. That is plenty as the Maine State Inspection requirement is 2/32nds.
The body is straight and the paint is in very good condition for the year and mileage. There is rust on the rocker panels – especially on the left side where a rot hole that would cause it to fail the Maine State Inspection is located. There are rust bubbles starting to form over the rear quarter panel wheelwells. The left side is heavier than the right side. The main frame looks good with only minor surface rust. There is a small hole in the plastic of the front bumper cover. One foglamp is discolored on its lens.
There is a little bit of bubbling in the trim of the grill – the fake chrome plastic piece that is just under the hood line.
The interior is fairly clean. There are no obvious holes in the leather seats. There are no obvious holes in the carpet. There is some discoloration on some of the carpeted surfaces. The headliner looks good and does not sag. The door panels look good and the dash is not cracked.
The glass is good.
The stereo sounds great, the power windows all work. The power seat works. The owner’s manual is included. This vehicle has a keyless entry system and the remote is included. The horn works. The left rear inside door handle is broken.
The headlamps are clear and the lights all work.
The car has a clean Carfax report.
The State of Maine has a tough state safety inspection program and this car would not pass for a Maine sticker because of rust on the brake lines, the front stabilizer bar links, the rear brakes, the rear shocks, the rear stabilizer shock and the rust on the rocker panels. Therefore, it is being sold as-is with an “unsafe vehicle” form. It does not come with temporary plates and it should not be operated on public roads prior to being fixed. Most of our cars for sale come with 14-day temporary license plates. These are not available though to Massachusetts residents due to Massachusetts laws. You are responsible for obtaining your own insurance. If a car is being sold as an unsafe vehicle that needs repair work (i.e. a fixer-upper), we will disclose that in the ad and advise you to have it towed or shipped from our dealership. Those cars should not be driven on the roads until they are repaired and properly inspected in your home state.
I was one of the first dealers to sell vehicles on eBay and over the past decade, I’ve heard all kinds of excuses where someone’s wife, children, business partner, dog, burglar or pet goldfish has logged onto their account and “accidently” purchased an item. If it is your account, you will be responsible for your accounts. We are reasonable to work with, but cannot incur the costs from someone committing to a purchase and then changing their mind. A $200 non-performance charge will be assessed to any non-paying bidder. This will be in addition to any forfeited deposit. We will use the court system and/or collection agencies to collect that fee. If the legal system is used, we will also charge all legal fees to the non-paying bidder. This is how we make our living and it’s not a game to us. We reserve the right to waive these fees if you have a legit and documented issue that comes up, we are human beings after all, but we are also in business and need to pay our overhead .
If a buyer comes to physically see a vehicle and they do not agree with the condition report that we have made, we will work with them to make things right and if they have a valid concern, we will release them from any commitment to buy. The majority of my buyers through the years have told me after the sale that their vehicle was even better than it was described. We strive for that kind of reaction from our customers.
We request that vehicles be picked up within seven days of the sale unless other arrangements are made – but we are understanding of travel arrangements and can usually hold a car or relocate it to a storage facility if you ask us to. We are reasonable to work with.
