I bought this vehicle in 2002 from the Toyota dealership. I am the second owner. This vehicle was running great and was a daily driver despite the check engine light being on. I had the spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, front brake pads and front rotors all replaced. The engine oil, oil filter and transmission gear oil were all also changed. A month later the water pump went out and caused the timing belt to break. Both the water pump and timing belt were then replaced. When it came time for smog it failed due to the Check Engine Light. The smog tech advised that it would have passed otherwise. I had the diagnostics ran and it came back that the egr vsv (vacuum switching valve) was bad. I bought the part and attempted to replace it myself. The part is hard to get at between the rear of the engine and the firewall. A mechanic told me to disconnect the right side tie rod from the hub assembly but that didnt help. I was never sucessful at replacing it and decided to put it on hold. About a month later I decided to go out and start it up. It wouldnt turn over so I went out and bought a new battery. I put the battery in and it turned over fine but still wouldnt start. To the best of my knowledge it isnt getting spark. Im thinking perhaps I could have knocked a wire loose while blindly feeling around for the egr vsv.If your knowledgeable with mechanics perhaps youll be able to figure out why it isnt getting spark then you would just need to replace the EGR VSV and the tie rod end (both of which will be included). The vehicle is in average condition. There is a couple shallow dents on the front left fender, some scuffs and scratches on the plastic side panels and rear bumper. There are paint chips on the front hood and a few other spots. The interior is in average condition. There are some scratches on the glove box, dash and rear cargo area panels. There is a small hole in the drivers seat. Other than that there is just normal light wear. No other tears in the upholstery. The upholstery could use a shampoo. The tires have 40-50% of their tread left. The brake rotors are new but are now rusted. The rear door locks dont unlock automatically.The vehicles A/C and heat worked great. The AWD never had any issues. The Stereo, cassette and CD player all work as they should. Moon roof also operates as it should. The clutch was replaced in 2004 by Toyota and the steering rack was replaced in 2005. The vehicle is missing the roof rack keys, the rear ashtray and the rear headrests. This vehicle was never in a collision. The vehicle will only be able for viewing/ inspecting after prior arrangements. No tinkering or attempting to fix the vehicle will be allowed. Due to the vehicle not running, the winning bidder will need to tow it away. Even if the vehicle were to start it would need to be towed due to the tie rod needing replacement. The vehicle is being sold AS-IS, for parts or repair. There is NO Warranty. The cost of towing, repair, smog, registration and title change are the buyers responsibility. The registration was paid up to July of 2011. It is now due. A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end. The remainder is due within 7 days of Auction end. Paypal is for deposit only, not for entire amount of winning bid. If no contact is made within 24 hours I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next high bidder, or sell it otherwise. Buyer is responsible for pickup of this vehicle within 14 days of auction end. You will need to schedule ahead of time to pick up the vehicle.
