Vehicle Detail
This 6 series is a fine example of a well kept car. ALWAYS kept under a cover within my air conditioned and heated garage. I've owned this car for approx. 8 years, and I've loved every moment while driving it. Many people (some never seeing this type of car) have commented on it's appearance. It originally came from California where it was first purchased. I am not a smoker, and I truly believe this car has never been smoked in. I live in southwestern Utah in the desert. No, it never snows here at all! The bottom line is this ... this car has zero rust or corrosion! I encourage any interested party to put the car on a hoist to witness the cleanliness of the car. As far as the meticulous negative details surrounding the car, here it goes; 1. There are a few minor dings on the car. So minor that as much as I've tried, I cannot get them to reveal themselves on a photo. 2. The fiberglass front air dam has minor scratching and common road nicks upon it. This was the way it came to me, and I never got it repainted. The good news is it's not cracked at all which is uncommon for this car. One must be very careful when driving this particular automobile paying close attention to driveway entrances, gutters, etc. It sits very low! 3. The speedometer has a personality. More often than not it works fine, sometimes it doesn't. The last time I drove the car it wasn't working but history reveals it will likely work the next time it's driven. To be honest, I haven't worried a great deal about this as I rarely drive the car. A good friend of mine to whom has been an accomplished BMW mechanic for over 30 years (and has worked on this car) tells me it can be one of two things. Either a simple fix under the car, or a more in depth fix within the interior of the car. As I mentioned above, I really haven't cared about it as it doesn't really bother me due to the fact that it's only happened a few times. Note; The fact that the speedometer doesn't work does not compromise the function of the odometer. 4. There is a minor power steering leak. The interesting thing is (much like the speedometer) it has it's own personality. Sometimes it leaks, sometimes it won't. In my mind I've tried to justify why I should have it repaired when it isn't a consistent problem. I detest leaks! On the other hand why go into a lot of detail when it's a once in a while issue? I firmly believe the problem may stem from sitting for prolonged periods of time. Expansion and/or contracting of seals perhaps? In all honesty, I'm not sure what else to think. 5. I have experienced some "chattering" from the front brakes when I've really hit them hard! I've read somewhere that this is common within these particular cars. Here again, I've only experienced this a few times. This falls into the #3 & #4 category on my list as one of those things that rarely happen. Is it truly detrimental and dangerous? No, or I would have resolved the issue a long time ago. I felt it best to mention this as it is a flaw within the automobile. As far as the positive attributes surrounding the car, here it goes; 1. If you didn't know better, you might think the car has been repainted. The original paint is in exquisite shape. I recently had it professionally waxed and detailed and it looks spectacular! Way above average for a 24 year old car. Then again, while in my possession the car has always been well protected. I know for a fact the previous owners of this car took equal care of it. 2. The interior is nearly flawless. There are a few very minor areas in which a local leather shop told me 200.00 would create a flawless interior. I've decided not to take pictures of these areas as they might not show up on film they're so unnoticeable. On the other hand, the carpet and mats are flawless! No dirt, grunge, or any evidence of wear whatsoever. If there is one area that is showroom perfect, as is the interior and trunk carpeting. One more thing, this car has an "L6" description attached to it. This means it has the "full leather interior package". Literally head to toe. Dash, headliner, etc. are all leather. 3. The engine is very strong. I've had 2 personal friends (to whom are still accomplished BMW mechanics) drive the car and they both gave it a 100% thumbs up on it's performance. I used to work at BMW of Murray in SLC, Utah and I know my way around numerous BMW models. 4. The rear tool compartment under the trunk lid is 100% complete. If you'll look closely at the picture, it also includes those hard to find "BMW" terry cloths that came with the car. As if I'd ever wipe grease on it! 4. I have receipts totaling 17,478.78 (no, not a typo) in repairs and upgrades on this car. In addition, I have numerous pictures throughout the process of restoration of this car. No, the car has NEVER been in an accident! Naturally, these documents are available for your inspection and I am glad to provide them for you. In my estimate, nothing throughout the nature of repairs was of critical nature. Many of the receipts are upgrades all of which were performed at the BMW dealership. All regular repairs, oil changes, etc. were always done at the BMW dealership. This car has never seen otherwise! Should the car not sell, it will never see anything other than a BMW dealership ... ever! 5. I still have the original Blaupunkt stereo/cassette player that it was born with. I also have a fair amount of trinkets that will go with the car ... electric window switches, modules, wiper blades, etc. I collected these items through time and have kept them for the "in case I ever need them" situation. Naturally, the car has it's own custom storage cover with storage bag. This is an expensive cover and has worked nicely for the preservation of the car. If I were to give this car a hard, factual, 100% bare facts rating on a scale of 1 through 10, I'd give it an 7-8. First of all let's not kid ourselves. A perfect 10 is a car that's brand new and to be honest, some brand new american cars aren't worthy of the "10". You already know what I'm talking about here. Needless to say this car is, once again, 24 years old. I give it a rating of 7-8 is because there is no doubt room for improvement which I clearly illustrated above in my depiction of the car. I have a very carefully trained eye for classic BMW automobiles (Isseta's, 2002's, Alpina's) and I used to be around them all the time. Let's just say even today this old car turns the heads of the seasoned BMW auto workers and Beemer enthusiasts. I should know as many of them are my friends! Enough bragging and let me just say that you will not be disappointed while investing in this car! One might ask why I am selling it and here are the facts. I am opening a new ranch specifically designed for Autistic adults, and I need the money to build an office building on the ranch property. The success of this ranch is more important to me than the car at this point in my life. I am deeply fond of this car although sadly, I must part with it in order to pursue new avenues in my life. Please bid knowing you will be carrying on with the very last leg of a fabulous car's restoration. There is so very little left to do to complete this project! I am happy to assist in the careful inspection of loading the vehicle should you hire a transport company. I am willing to deliver to Las Vegas for a small fee. Good luck to you!
