1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata A-package Roadster – VIN JM1NA3512P0415336 - Spring is coming! For your consideration is my happy little unmolested 1993 Mazda MX-5 Miata A-package roadster – the car brought on the return of the sports car when introduced in 1990. This car has not been restored in any way, shape, or form, but is an excellent low mileage driver and gets “thumbs-up” and positive comments everywhere we go. I purchased this car from the second owners who kept the car garaged and used it very sparingly. Wearing just 84,000 miles, I bought it as a fun weekend runabout. As a freelance automotive journalist, I’m now on to my next project. I am also thinning the herd. I have 2 factory keys, numerous records along with the original manuals and even the factory window sticker. As an A-package car, it comes with alloy wheels, headrest speakers, power steering, power mirrors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. This car also had OEM rear mudflaps and a pinstripe added by the dealership when it was new. In the last 1,000 miles I have completed a few small jobs: 1) installed a Racing Beat intake with K&N filtercharger (the original airbox conveys); 2) oil and filter change; and 3) installed door sill protectors. The timing belt and water pump were replaced about 23,000 miles ago. The tires are brand new (less than 100 miles) matching Sumitomos. The convertible top is in as-new condition and is one of the higher-quality Robbins tops with a glass back window that is a drastic improvement over the OEM plastic window tops. On the inside, this car is in very nice original condition, not having suffered from the dash and console cracking and seat seam splits that plague so many Miatas. There are no foul odors, and the carpets and OEM floor mats are in good condition. The original radio/cassette, heater, and air conditioning all work as they should, and the car has a current Virginia safety inspection (expring 12/12). Outside, the car is remarkably straight save for a few small parking lot dings and one dime-sized ding on the driver’s rear quarter panel (pictured). After diligent inspection by myself and others, no rust has been located anywhere on the car. The red paint is in remarkable condition save for some slight fading on the plastic panels, and the doors shut perfectly. All of the lenses are in good, clear condition. The alloy wheels and plastic hubcaps are all present, and the original spare tire is in the trunk, along with a top boot (pictured on the car) and a front bra. The motor starts easily and settles to a very smooth idle. The power steering functions properly, and the 5-speed transmission shifts as smoothly as any Miata I’ve driven (have owned 3 and driven many more!). There are no odd noises or whines from the driveline. The clutch takes-up properly and the car does not smoke irregularly. The brakes are in good condition and do not pull. The brake pedal is appropriately firm. The Racing Beat intake gives the car a little more “growl” than stock, but it is certainly not intrusive and again the original part convey for a new owner who may wish to put it back to original. No permanent modifications have been made. Please keep in mind that this is not a new vehicle and that it is sold as-is, where-is with no warrantees implied, stated, or otherwise intended. I cannot say that it is without flaws. I don't care what classic car you are looking at, it will have flaws. I can assure you that this is a superb car that you can cherish for years to come.
