Vehicle Detail
Looks just like the “Smokey and The Bandit” movie car! 455 Pontiac engine, AT, Tilt, PS, PDB, A/C, PW, Tach, etc. 125,000 miles, been stored inside for the last ten years, last licensed in 2002. Rebuilt 1974 model 455 big block (Pontiac engines did not come in “small-block”) with very low miles on rebuild, has barely burned the paint off the exhaust ports on the heads. Edelbrock chrome valve covers. Runs GREAT, has a mild cam which gives it a nice sounding lope at idle. A little cold-collared in the morning, probably needs a choke adjustment. Smooths out quickly as it warms up. 350 turbo automatic in great shape, shifts flawlessly, no issues. Disc front / drum rear. Cast iron manifolds, good dual exhaust but has a leak at the passenger side manifold, maybe just needs a new donut but not sure, not a very big leak. Needs both tailpipe tips but exhaust runs behind rear wheels and is solid with good mufflers, sounds great. An original A/C car but missing the compressor, some brackets and who knows what else would be required to put the A/C back in working order. Parking lights work but none of the headlights light up, have not checked to see why yet but will try to get a chance to look at them this weekend. Battery is a little weak, it usually starts first crank but if you flood it then the battery runs out of juice and needs a jump. Had a paint job years ago that still shines pretty good, but the front and rear bumper covers are warped and wavy. There are a scattering of blistered up places in the paint, and the gold decals and striping are tired and faded. A collection of dings and small dents, too. No rust holes in the outer body. One blister in the passenger side lower quarter. Some surface rusting in the blisters and dings. Trunk has a small rust hole in the floor, some surface rust and scale on the floor and around the bumper reinforcements. Trunk liner/carpet is still in it but is fairly filthy. The rear lip of the trunk lid has some rust on the inside of it. Interior is not too bad, seats have no splits or wear, the dash pad is wavy and curling up but not split. The factory stereo is gone but the hole is NOT cut, which is rare. Carpet is nice. Car DOES NOT have T-Tops so it has been dry over the years. The door panels are usable but it could stand to have better ones. The rear package tray is dried out and falling to pieces. The steering wheel has an aftermarket cover which probably means that the factory cover is worn. The steering wheel center needs painting and the tilt column does too. Tilt works good, is still nice and tight. The power window on the driver side is not working, appears to be the motor. Passenger side works good but if you roll it all the way down it won’t start back up unless you pull it up about an inch. I have just been making sure not to roll it down all the way and it works fine, so probably some kind of adjustment is needed. Switch panel on the console is loose and just laying in the hole. Has a button in the glove box for power trunk release but not working. Headliner is sagged down but the material is very nice, could probably be re-glued. Shifter works correctly but you have to press the button very hard, needs some attention. Still has all the Trans Am goodies, including the hard-to-find correct model shaker. Still has the factory “Snowflake” wheels in good shape, mounted with new looking tires. Tread on tires shows no wear at all. Runs and drives good! Does not smoke, drink, make any funny noises or leave any puddles. Steering is nice and tight, does not pull or shake. No evil habits at all. A good daily driver just the way it is or would make an excellent start for a project. $6500 or best offer, use the “Offer” link above if you want. Questions? Use the “Ask Seller A Question” link!
