Vehicle Detail

2001 Ford Excursion Limited 4x4 w the top of the line 7.3L Turbo Diesel Up for sale is my personal truck - a nice and clean 2001 Ford Excursion with the ever reliable and powerful 7.3L Turbo Diesel. I bought this truck back in 2007 when the family grew and we needed more truck for our growing family and to pull our camper. I went over the vehicle end to end and being a mechanic took care of anything that needed to be. I also spent a nice sum of money upgrading a number of things to make the truck more comfortable and powerful such as: Replacement of the ugly plain OEM 2001 grille with a 2007 Grille, replacement of the ugly plain headlights and sidemarkers with 2005 lights - all new not used. Replacmement of the plain OEM rims and tires with HD magnesium 16" American racing 6 spoke aftermarket rims with 33" or metric size 305 /70R 16 Toyo Open Country AT tires - they grip very well in snow and off road while running quietly on the highway. Installation of a double din dash mounted 7" wide touchscreen DVD/CD player wich is also connected to a roof mounted drop down video screen so you the parent can control and watch what the kids in the back are seeing - no more reaching over and behind you to change videos. It also has much more functionality that I did not connect such as navigation and backup camera inputs. Replacement of the OEM complete exhaust with a 4" stainless aftermarket exhaust with performance muffler. Replacement of the OEM air box with an Air Raid ram air performance filter and box. Installation of a Quadzilla Xzillaraider performance programmer with optional digital control panel screen. - I always kept it on the economy setting to save fuel but it has 4 settings. Installation of a set of Timbren Suspension Load Enhancement progressive springs. Over the past year I have spent quite a bit of money on a number of costly items such as: New brakes, calipers and rotors in all 4 corners New shocks in all 4 corners New front tires - rear tires are about 50% New Ball joints on both the left and right side New Steering dampner shock New Batteries - both of them just 2 months ago And - I just spent $1600 to have the oil pan replaced - the #1 issue with the 7.3L diesel is rusting of the OEM thin wall oil pan. Unfortunatley step 1 is to pull the motor to gain access, so becuase it was beginning to look a little rusty and I didnt want to chance a failure, I paid to have the pan replaced with a HD powder coated pan. The truck runs great, does not leak, gets decent mileage for the size of the truck and has gobs of power - and can seat 8 comfortably while being entertained! My life has changed and we have not used it much since we sold the camper so I am downsizing, which is the only reason for selling after everything I have put into it. The paint still shines nice, the rugs are clean and there are no rips in the leather seats and no craks in the dash. Everything works and it is ready to go to a new home. The only Bad if you want to call it bad is there is 1 small dent on the right rear door, 1 small scratch in the right rear quarter and a small ding in the right front fender - see photos. All are minor and I didnt go bananas over it - last winter a snowplow came a little too close when my truck was parked at a hotel and ice chunks shot from the blade into the side of the truck making some marks, so it is not perfect but the price will reflect that. This is a lot of truck for what I am asking and you cant buy them anymore and believe me you dont want a 6.0L version - they were plagued with problems. I have had zero driveline problems other than the oil pan over the course of the 11 years it has been existence and the 5 it was in my hands. I installed a brand new set of aftermarket HD Mile Marker 4x4 hubs that i have had waiting for me to have the time to do it. One of the known issues with the Excursion is failure of the OEM plastic hubs - ususally when you needed 4x4 the most. Mine were working but craked and were a little hard to turn at times so it made good sense to change them before they failed. I put the OEM hubs in the mile marker box and am including them with the auction as a backup, but with the new hubs you will never have to worry about having 4x4 when you need it. I also changed the fuel filter and replaced with a new Motorcraft filter - not a cheap aftermarket filter, to ensure miles of trouble free driving - I had one question from one of you folks watching from someone who wanted to fly in and drive it back home a significant distance, so I had the filter as a spare and wanted to be sure it was ready to go in case that was a possibility for the winning bidder. so, the winning bider is ready to go - no work or maintenance to do!On Feb-26-12 at 09:02:58 PST, seller added the following information: Please excuse the spelling errors - this is what happens when you keep getting interrupted by your kids as you are trying to type :) Feel free to call me if you have any questions
