Classic 1964 Corvette Convertible Fuelie for sale. Current owner over 20 years. Prior owner restored to its original Riverside Red over classic red vinyl with red carpet and a white vinyl top less then 8,000 miles ago. Rebuilt motor along with the transmission and differential. The car was completely gone through at this time. It has been properly stored and regularly maintained, always ready to drive. The car was on the cover and featured in "Keepin' Track" magazine in 1990. Click here to see the magazine article. (opens in a new window). DATA TAG: DATE: Built April, 21 1964 STYLE: Convertible TRIM: Vinyl (See ECL) BODY: ("S" Indicates body supplier A.O. Smith or St Louis) 8833 is the sequential production number PAINT: Riverside Red The 327ci small block is stamped with the numbers "4116078 F0319HP" and has block casting # 3782870 along with a date code of H2863. All accessories are in working order except for the heater core which has been by-passed. Car starts, runs and drives well with plenty of power, excellent brakes tight suspension and steering. Clutch and shifting are excellent. There are another 165 pictures in addition to what you see here as well as several videos with stereo audio so you can see and hear her run. See the link at the bottom of the page following these first 51 images. Please call Donn Dabney anytime with your questions at 707-332-8331. NOTE/UPDATE: Thanks to a couple of knowledgeable Corvette enthusiasts I have been made aware of something that I did not know. Apparently the two-letter suffix on the stamped portion of the block, i.e. F0319"HP" indicates that the engine was manufactured in 1965. Yet the casting number in the block reads "H2863" indicates the motor was manufactured in November of 1963. Since the car was produced in April of 1964 (see date code in data tag), the block could have in fact been correct as an engine produced 6 months prior to a car being completed would not be impossible or even uncommon. The question is more about why the motor, if being re-stamped at some point, would be stamped incorrectly with relation to the suffix code of "HP" when it should have been stamped "RX". While mistakes during production were certainly more common during that era, I do think this is important and needs to be disclosed. In short, I am not representing this car as "numbers matching" nor do I want to be perceived as doing so. In light of this information, please note that the Buy Now price has been significantly reduced.
