Vehicle Detail
Lets start with the boring stuff. Buy or make offer only if you intend on following through with the purchase. Ask questions BEFORE you bid. Email or call me, Dave, at 314-732-5925. You will get honest answers to all questions. Truck does not leave here until all funds clear my bank. Depending on type of check, this can take up to 10 days. I will not deliver the truck unless it is somewhere within 4 hours from me. Rate to be determined by mileage. There is not enough room at my home for an 18 wheeler to pick it up. You will need someone with a normal size car trailer or maybe a two car trailer. Truck is NOT running. It will have to be pushed or winched onto a trailer. The pictures showing the front end removed show the truck with a different carb, air cleaner, and fender well headers that do not come with it. The pics with the front fenders on shows the engine as it is listed for sale. There is no need to wait until the end of the auction to bid. In this type of auction, you buy it for the buy it now price or make an offer at any time. Don't miss out by waiting too long to enter a bid. Trades possible but not probable. This is a very rare Studebaker Champ Pickup with the short bed step side. It is in the process of being a mean pro street machine, race truck, gasser, hot rod, or whatever you want it to be. The body was originally completely rust free except for some floor patching that was done right by welding in the new floor panels. Body is super straight. The body was off of the frame and painted underneath including the frame. The bed is in great shape. No damage from hauling heavy items. It is sitting on completely stock suspension and frame. It has the stock Dana rear end but a drum to drum 9" Ford comes with it. The straight axle front end is stock but could be raised up very easily for the nose in the air look by just inserting blocks between the axle and the springs. Brakes are all original but need rebuilding. I purchased every piece of weatherstripping the truck came with originally new and it is included. Over $600.00 worth. The front and rear glass rubbers have been replaced already. It also come with another complete front clip + a third front end panel. 2 Extra doors. Extra windshield. Front and rear bumpers. (Front bumper needs to be straightened out from a minor wreck). And boxes and boxes of extra parts. I had 2 trucks at one point. Engine is a 1973 454 Big Block Chevy de-stroked to a 427 by using the 427 crank and should have about a 11 to 1 compression ratio. Engine and trans have been completely gone through with about 3000 miles on them. Broke in but still like new. Over 200 lbs compression in all cylinders. Came out of another street rod 1948 Ford truck. The guy that has the engine rebuilt just could not handle the high horsepower after he installed it so he went back to a fairly mild small block. Heads are casting # 3993820 -- LS-5 large oval ports. 113cc. Pistons are 30 over forged TRWs. Comp Cams # 11-213-3 with 292 / 292 duration and 550/550 lift. Comp Cams 7/16" Hi-Tech extra large push rods. Manley push rod guide plates. Melling high pressure oil pump. Cloyes double roller timing chain. Edelbrock RPM air gap intake. Holley 750 CFM carb. ( needs kit ) Vintage Mickey Thompson valve covers and Offenhauser breathers. Engine was painted on the inside for better oil return. New ceramic coated block hugger headers. I know there is more but you get the picture. There is a lot of money in this engine. More than 2/3 of the price of what you can buy the complete truck and everything that goes with it for. I would think this engine should propel the truck into the high 11s or low 12's depending on gears and slicks, and be somewhere in the 425 to 475 HP range. I measured the rear fender space using the Ford 9" width and it appears that you could run between a 10" and 12" slick, depending on wheel choice, without any modifications. If you want to run bigger slicks, there is a company that makes reproduction fiberglass rear fenders that add an extra 2" to the width. Transmission is a Stage II " Tuff One" turbo 350 that is built up also. Shift kit. 3,000 stall. etc. Also comes with an almost new large core aluminum radiator which is included. What is needed. Complete wiring kit. Paint. Brakes rebuilt. Drive shaft made. ( Comes with one to cut down ) Interior finished out. Exhaust pipes and mufflers. And misc other items. All of the hard work is done though. All original items such as heater, wipers, lights, gauges, etc. are there and could be used without modifications. Even a battery could still be mounted in the original spot under the hood. The engine fits very well with plenty of room to access all items such as distributer, valves, headers, alternator, starter, oil filter, fuel pump, etc. I also made sure that a tunnel ram will work without it hitting the cowl. Extra parts that can be purchased separately. 2 sets of fender well headers. One set is brand new and ceramic coated. Tunnel ram set up. Super trick 9" Ford rear end set up with ladder bar suspension and coil overs. Mag wheels. MOON tank. And many other cool items. Best to call on the extras, but remember, the truck needs to sell first, and not all the engine bolt on items in the pictures with the front fenders removed are included in the sale. Call me, Dave, with any more questions BEFORE you buy or make an offer. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT WITH THIS TRUCK. You will not see another like it and it is at the point where you can still make it your own. Why pay more for someone else's truck or car that will never be truly yours? Make it into the ultimate sleeper with a stock appearance , a mean looking nose in the air gasser, or anything in-between.
