2006 Cadillac XLR "V" Hard Top Convertible - Its design makes the Cadillac XLR "V" stand out from the crowd. Its retractable hardtop is power-operated and goes from open to closed in about 30 seconds. Virtually every luxury feature comes standard, including a Navigation system, traction control, stability control, adaptive high-intensity discharge headlights, rear parking sensors, headlamp washers, dual-zone climate control, a 250-watt sound system with an in-dash CD changer and a 7-inch Touchscreen for driver information, entertainment and navigation system control. This blown four-cam jewel produces 443 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque, with 90 percent of that torque on tap between 2200 and 6000 rpm (base roadster’s 320-horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque). That’s enough to launch from 0-60 in an impressive 4.6 seconds – making this the fastest Cadillac ever. The XLR- V's chassis is upgraded from the naturally aspirated base model's by having a solid front anti-roll bar, a rear anti-roll bar, stiffer rear lower-control-arm bushings, and a re calibrated ride program. All of this results in a flat and well-controlled stance on the road, and the ride is still considerably better than that of the Corvette with which this car shares so much platform architecture. To handle all that power, there’s a new, 6-speed automatic (the standard XLR has a 5-speed), pushing power into the rear wheels. The V gets inch-larger 19-inch tires. And to scrub off speed equally fast, the front brakes measure 13.4 inches, the rear an even 13 inches. Virtually all suspension and ride componentry have been tweaked and tuned to handle the extra power and give a more dynamic ride, including the variable-assist magnetic steering system and Caddy’s MagneRide suspension. The cooling system has been significantly enhanced, and there’s a free-flowing air induction system, along with a low-restriction exhaust. Exclusive to the V-series -- is a system that swivels the headlights in corners to improve the illuminated field of vision. The V gets 18 mpg city and 24 mpg hwy. This car has had two other owners.
