Vehicle Detail
I’m selling this ’62 Bonneville Convertible for a friend of mine that would make an excellent car for restoration. He said that it’s been sitting here in Arizona for over 20 years, but the car is very straight and about 95% complete. Luckily, a car that sits in Arizona doesn’t deteriorate as much as a car that sits on the east coast or somewhere with a lot of rain and snow. I think we had some rain here last year. Anyway, the doors and hood line up nicely and still open and close. The trunk lines up and still opens and closes, but the latch is missing. The trunk floor is very solid with a couple of small rust holes in the corner. The convertible top framework is complete and still operates manually up and down, the original lift cylinders are still hooked up as well and might still work. The dash is in good condition and mostly complete with the instrument cluster, heater controls, top switch, radio, light switch, knobs, etc… Almost all of the chrome bumpers and trim are all there and in very good condition, which is usually a tough thing to find for old cars. The original 389 is still in the car and everything’s there except the air cleaner and radiator. It even has the factory power brake booster. The side glass and frames are good and the windows all roll up and down. The windshield needs to be replaced, but the windshield frame is in excellent condition. Obviously, the seats are missing as you can see in the pics. As with any convertible that’s been sitting, there are a few rust spots in the floor that are about an inch or two, nothing major, but there are a few spots that have made holes in the floor. Other than that, the floor is very solid and still has the original paint in a few areas and only needs minor patch work. At some point, someone cut some holes on the transmission hump in the floor, but they're easily repairable. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but the exterior of the body is in excellent condition also. At some point, someone painted the car with rust colored paint and brushed it on. So even though the car looks like it’s covered in rust, it’s not. If you look at the pics closely, there’s hardly any exterior rust on the body. I took a couple shots of the lower rockers and underbody so you can get an idea of how solid this car is. I can take more detailed pics if there’s something specific that you’d like to see. Again, the car is in excellent restorable condition, very solid, very complete and VERY COOL. If you’re good enough, you might even be able to get it running and drivable just how it is, so who knows. Either way, this Bonny is very cool and I’d love to see it back on the road. The car is sold with a bill of sale only, there’s no title for the car. The car is sold AS IS with no returns or warranty. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction close, with the remainder due within 7 days. Pickup and shipping is the buyers responsibility, but I can take it to a local shipping company for you as well, depending on the distance. I have a car trailer and could deliver up to 200 miles from Phoenix Arizona for a small fee.
