Vehicle Detail
This AMC Gremlin is in very good condition for a vehicle that is 37 years old. It runs and drives well, and I believe it has never been wrecked or otherwise had major work done to it. - The car is in very good condition for its age. It has a good running engine, and a solid, body. As I understand from the previous owner, the car was not on the road from 1977 until 2011. One of the pictures shows that there is still a 1977 Indiana inspection sticker on the car. - I replaced all 4 tires. - I replaced all 4 wheel cylinders and the master cylinder as well as the rubber brake hoses. It has a good solid pedal and the brake shoes and drums are in decent shape. I also re-packed the front wheel bearings. - I replaced the carburetor. If you rember cars like this, it is still not as easy to start as modern fuel injected engines, but it starts every time and runs well; especially after it warms up. - I changed the oil twice in about 1000 miles to make sure all the gunk left from 30 years of sitting was getting removed - By far the worst thing about the car is the corrosion behind the battery. It is the result of leaking battery acid I believe. I have included a picture to show the extent of the damage. - There are several spots of surface rust on the paint, as well as on the gas tank and other spots under the car. Other than the hole in the inner fender behind the battery, all of these spots are light surface rust where the paint has chipped off. I think my decription of the rust is a little unfair to the car because the car is in such good undisturbed condition, but judge for yourself. - Dents and dings. There are a few. You can see them in the photos. - Exhaust system has a hole in it. - Faded paint Other: - The car does not have carpeting. And never did. That was an option that year and the car came with the textured rubber mat that is still in the car. - It is a 3 speed manual (on the floor) - It has the 232 cubic inch 6 cylinder with a 1 barrel carburetor The reserve is $3,000. I am happy to answer any additional questions you might have or take a photo for you.You are also welcome to come by and inspect the car before you purchase. I believe that I have been as truthful as possible about the car and I have not hidden anything, but I am not an auto professional. Please look yourself in person, or let me clarify any questions you have before you put your money down. I am also happy to assist with shipping the vehicle (as in "be here when the carrier gets here"), but you will have to arrange the carrier. Thanks, and good luck
