Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1960 Morris Minor Traveller that we original purchased in 1998 from a couple in Seattle. It ran well but had really bad tires and absolutely no brakes. It sat for a couple of years before we shipped it to Portland to Paul Asgeirsson who owned Morris Service. Sadly Paul has recently passed away. Here is a list of the work he performed at that time:Front brakes converted to discNew rear brake shoes and wheel cylindersNew brake hoses and custom steel brake linesRebuild master cylinder with new brass sleevePut on good used rear brake drumsReplaced all seals and put in speedi-sleevesReplaced transmission rear sealSteam cleaned underneath of car and engine compartmentsSand blast rims and paintInstalled new tyres – Michelin MXT from Coker Tire in TennesseeInstalled new battery and clean up battery compartmentReplace engine oil filter and repair and replace parts in oil filter.Completely disassemble, rebuild, and adjust front suspension with all new bushings and sealsUpgrade inner lower shock absorbers with Delrin bushingsInstalled headlight switchReplaced ignition points, condenser, distributor cap, rotor and plug wiresAdjusted tappets and carbsInstalled new air filters and modified to fitAdapted air filter covers to carReplaced tappet gasket and fixed oil leak at fittingsInstalled new AlternatorReplaced water pump, bypass hose, lower radiator hose, flushed the radiator and block, and refilledInstalled seat belts in frontfit rear spring bushes We picked the car up in 2002 and drove it for about two years. It ran and drove great and was a reliable starter. It got a lot of attention and it's fun to drive. We moved down to central Oregon a few years ago where the car has been sitting. While it sat, the twin carbs got gummed up (they probably needed to be rebuilt anyway) so in April of 2011 we sent the carbs out for a complete overhaul and they are reinstalled back on the car. During the course of a couple of moves we have lost the ignition key but ordered a new key and complete ignition cylinder, which come with the car. As it sits the car needs the new ignition switch installed, a new battery, and possibly a new electronic fuel pump or at least the contacts back to the ignition cleaned in order to make it run. Included with the car but not installed are: Front seat upholstery kit for both seatsFront scuttle panelFront door panelsPetronix electronic ignitionNew wiper arms and wipersNew oil filterWeather strippingComplete ignition and key cylinderFree and clear titleReceipts totaling about $5,500 from Morris Service in PortlandReceipts for $1,000 for upholstery and suchFeel free to email me with any questions and thank you for looking.I try to be as accurate and forthright as possible when describing the condition of items that I sell. Some times perhaps to my short term detriment, however I prefer no hidden "surprises" when I purchase some thing online, and wish to extend the same courtesy to whomever purchases something from me. I honestly believe this would make for a very straightforward restoration. All that being said , I ask you only bid if you indeed intend to follow through on the transaction. If you need to figure out shipping I would encourage to do so or at least get a rough idea prior bidding and definitely prior auction ending. Update in response to some questions regarding the car: With the exception of the front passenger fender the car seems remarkably rust free. Floors feel very solid and the undercarriage looks good. The front fender has some perforation holes in it which you can see from the photo's, however this seems to be pretty much unchanged for the last 14 years. Not sure if it would make better sense to repair or replace the fender. The woodwork also seems pretty solid , will need to be sanded and refinished of course. Dash lights , headlights , break lights and turn signals all work. Wiring seems to be in good order , with the exception of perhaps the lead for the fuel pump. I removed the fuel pump and wired it directly to 12 volt and seems fine, reinstalled and does not appear to be getting enough juice. All glass is in nice shape . All the rubber seals will need to be replace, as well as the window tracks. These pieces are included with the car. I am pretty sure the car has all of its chrome pieces. The drivers side rear bumper has a dent in it. I believe shown in the photo's. The motor is the 948 cc and I have no reason to believe it is not original to the car. When the car was at Paul's shop he felt that at some point hardened valve seats had been installed . Runs great on normal unleaded fuel. Although brand new seat covers for the front seats are included with the car, the foam for the seats will need to be replaced. The headliner is in nice shape over the passenger area but has been removed at some point further aft. Hopefully shown in the photo's.
