Vehicle Detail
This 1974 Super Beetle has been carefully gone over by a certified VW Mechanic (for Air-Cooled VWs). We have put several thousand dollars into the suspension, brakes, fuel lines, new clutch cable, etc. I do have all receipts and can be more specific on work done. CD player with removable faceplate. Custom wheels and tires. Very recent tune-up and oil change. Mechanically, all I know of that needs to be done is to replace the odometer (it had broken before I got the car) and replace the steering box (screws can be tightened occasionally to tide you over, but you'll want to actually replace the box before long). NO RUST-THROUGH! Surface rust only in the usual places along the edges here and there, but not bad. I will send you pics of any- and everything you'd like to see-- just ask! Floorpans good- no problems (one was replaced; the other is fine). Can also send scanned receipts of work done since we bought her nearly a year ago. Needs: Paint on front hood and roof. A previous owner gave it a nice new paint job (sprayed over original orange), but didn't bother to take care of it, so the roof and hood are badly faded. For some reason, it's hard to get a picture that really shows that well, but it will definitely need new paint. No rust- just badly worn and faded in those two areas. Also needs carpet (trunk carpet is fine-- nearly new) and could use a nice new interior; it has a custom (Scat) interior, but it just looks tired! There are rubs and marks on the white vinyl (mostly the seating surfaces), so you'd want to consider a new interior. Does have a custom steering wheel, also. Comes with: Actual "birth certificate" from Germany, new dark blue dash mat (has a black one in place to cover one dash crack, but I thought navy blue would look nicer!), NICE original-German pop-out window set for rear quarter windows, a replacement dashboard from a '73 Super Beetle (a show car that was wrecked, so the dash is really nice-- no cracks!), new window rubber for the driver's side (passenger window rubber already replaced), wood dash kit (new original stock), and probably more odds and ends than I'm remembering. NOTE: The photos show the car without bumpers, but she now has stock front and rear bumpers installed! Starts on the first try every time, and runs out great! Just a nice, well-running little Bug; I love her dearly, but I'm at the point where I can't afford to continue with her restoration (paint, etc), so she needs to go to a new home that can do that. DAILY DRIVER! Please do NOT bid if you don't intend to pay! Must receive payment in FULL before you can come to get the car or have her shipped home! U.S. bidders ONLY, and NO SCAM ATTEMPTS (YES, I know what to look for!)!!!On Jan-21-12 at 09:11:54 PST, seller added the following information: Another note!-- The ugly chrome skull shifter and knob are gone- there is now a stock stifter and knob! The car came with that, and I just changed them out for something a bit...classier (and stock)!
