Vehicle Detail
This is a 1984 Mercedes 300TD Station Wagon. I bought it about two years ago from a woman whose husband had passed away unexpectedly. This wagon was the husbands pride and joy, and his wife drove the kids around in their other wagon, a blue 300TD; they would take the gold wagon on road trips and family outings. The woman told me that he was very careful with this car, and had it serviced regularly, although she never provided me with documentation, regardless of the numerable calls I made post sale. Upon inspection it appears to be a very well maintained vehicle indeed, absolutely no fluid leaks, a tight suspension, good brakes, very clean interior (obviously garaged), and rust free, except for minimal surface rust on the axel; bolts etc. No body rust except for some tiny dings up front and a hole thats been painted, inside front drivers door about the size of a pea . The paint has numerous issues, scratches, dings, fading... etc. It's not horrible from fifteen feet or so, but if you get close to this car you will notice the clear coat has tiny lateral scratches in it; I was told this is most likely from an automatic car wash. My plan was to re-paint this car Black, but I have since found another wagon, and after numerous trips to the hardware and lawn stores, I've come to realize this car is too nice for me; I would surely trash the interior. The carpet is very clean, and the seats are quite firm; much nicer than the ones in my daily driver. The sheepskin seat covers are new, they are very comfortable. The third seat is in very good condition, and fully functional; it even has it's own set of shoulder restraints! The car came with a set of roof racks, along with some literature and a box of spare parts; I will try to get more photos and a description of the extras up soon. The vehicle starts and runs fine; all of the systems appear to be in good working order, including the SLS. The starters pinion gear makes a whining noise when you start the car, so a new starter is probably in order; a starter is included in the extras, along with a radio and air conditioner compressor. The belt to the air conditioner has been disabled, so I'm assuming it doesn't work. The car has a sun roof, but the handle is broken, so there is no way, to my knowledge, to open it. There are some sunroof components in the spare parts, so I'm assuming it can be fixed. The antennae does not engage, and the radio does not work; I'm not sure if these problems are related but there is a spare radio, and what appears to be another antennae unit; again, I will get more photos of the extras, and some close up shots of what I feel are the worst body defects, hopefully over the week-end. If you have a specific request for a photo of a particular portion of the vehicle, please send me a request; I will do my best to oblige... Thanks for looking, and if you bid... Best of Luck!
