Vehicle Detail
Thanks for looking at a friend of mine's '04 Beetle. This car belongs to an older women who bought it a few years ago just because she wanted a convertible to drive around the mountains. However she now realizes that she can't fit enough of her grandchilden in the car so she wants to sell it and buy an SUV. She lives in NC but brought the car to me in Atlanta last week and asked me to sell it for her. As you can see from the pictures, the car is in good shape. I have driven it back and forth to work this week so I could be aware of any problems the vehicle might have. The vehicle runs well, it doesn't appear to leak oil, doesn't smoke, has no visible crankcase pressure. The transmission and clutch are both good as well as the brakes. I would estimate the tires have about 10,000 miles left on them. The car drives smooth at 70 miles an hour, it does not pull or sway when the brakes are applied. I only found two items that the pictures would not indicate. The right rear speaker, when the radio is on, has a slight roar or crackle but that would be an easy fix. The other item is the drivers window, when it is rolled all the way up it seems to catch on the lip of the convertible top when the door is closed. My solution was to just lower the window about 1/4 inch when I closed the door and then it doesn't hit the convertible top. Again, I am sure this would be an easy adjustment to fix. When you are driving the car with the windows rolled up I was surprised at how quite it is for a convertible, there is no wind hissing which I tend to expect from a convertible. There are no check engine lights on the dash, all the systems seem to work, both heat and air work as they are suppose to. The front seats show signs of wear but there are no rips or holes. Once again as you can see from the pictures the car is in good shape, paint is glossy, all the power windows work and the convertible top is in good shape. It has a power convertible top and several boots and covers that I took pictures of and none appear to be ripped or torn, but I did not try to install them. This women has a personal friend who works at a dealership who serviced the car for her. I do not know Volkswagens very well, but I have tried to give it a through look so that the buyer wouldn't have any surprises. With that begin said, the car is being sold "as is". Although I am not a certified technician, I can tell you that there are no obvious or visible issues with this car that I can find. As I said previously, the car is at my home outside of Atlanta. I will probably try to sell it locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction early if I do sell it locally. In my opinion, this would be a great car for someone who is looking for a small economical vehicle that is sporty and easy to drive. I have honestly tried to evaluate all the systems and functions of this car so that the bidder would have a good idea of the type of car he is bidding on. If you have further specific questions that I have not covered, please feel free to email me and I will do my best to answer your questions. If you are near Atlanta I will be glad to try to meet you and let you inspect the car for yourself. I do work a lot so it will have to be at a time that is convenient with my work schedule. Thanks for looking. If you purchase this car I do not think you will be disappointed, I think she has put a very realistic reserve price. Thanks and have a great day.
