Vehicle Detail

This is a great chance to own a rare, un-restored, numbers matching 1970 Ford XL 2 door SportsRoof with a factory 429 ci V8 engine and C6 automatic transmission. Ford dropped the Galixie moniker in 1968 and 1970 was the last year in production. If uniqueness is what you seek in a project car this one's for you. You don't often run across this particular model, especially with the 63C two door sportsroof body style and the 429 ci V8 engine. The odometer reads 44,950 miles and while it's obviously impossible to validate those are original miles, based on the condition of the car, I believe the mileage to be accurate. Other than some slight surface rust, and a few dents and dings, this car body is in great shape. Much of the discolored areas you see in the trunk pictures are actually floor mat glue and not rust. The interior is in fair shape except for the front bench seat which has numerous seam splits in the vinyl. The dash, instrument panel, and dash pad are in amazing condition for a car of this age. The engine runs strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. Even the vacuum operated highway headlight covers work. The car is complete, including all trim, except it's missing the AC compressor and the windshield mounted rear view mirror. I anticipate having those items in time for the new owner. My ownership of this vehicle is an interesting story. This car was a gift to me for helping restore a very similar one for my brother. As I understand the story, my sister in law bought it off the original owner late last year. I've owned it for a little over a month. This car proportedly spent a large percentage of it's life in California as evidenced by the California plates the original owner gave us upon the sale. I'm not in a position to restore this car and figure it's better off going to someone who can give it the care it deserves. Since I accumulated an extensive contact list while searching for parts for my brother's car, I'll include those contacts with the sale of this car. Please don't bid if you're not serious about buying. This will be a cash transaction to be completed within 7 days after end of auction. Buyer will have to coordinate shipment of this car out of state but I would be willing to drive a reasonable distance to meet a buyer more local to Plainfield, Indiana. Please understand that this is an unrestored car and not a show car. Having said that, my guarantee is that if, upon inspection ,you feel the car doesn't measure up to my description, you're free to walk away from the sale. Car is listed for sale locally so I reserve right to end the auction at anytime before my reserve price has been met. Out of fairness, I will let the auction continue after the reserve has been met. Please feel free to contact Terry at 317-997-8628 if you have questions or need more detailed pictures. On Sep-21-11 at 17:24:18 PDT, seller added the following information: In the interest of honest disclosure, I just got a call from the gentleman who sold this car to my sister in law. He saw the ebay add and called me to let me know that he was not the original owner but actually the second owner. He bought the car from the family of the original owner about 5 years ago. He verified that the car is a original survivor that did indeed spend most of it's life in California and that the plate I showed in my pictures is indeed one of it's California plates. He also volunteered that, since I really don't know much about the history of the car, he would be more than happy to talk to anyone who had questions. If you would like to take him up on his offer, feel free to drop me a line and I'll give you his phone number. Thanks for taking the time and effort to contact me Steve. I, like you, hope the car sells to someone who'll restore it to the condition a vintage car like this deserves. There aren't many like this left and we need to keep them around so the next generation can enjoy them as well. On Jan-08-12 at 17:53:52 PST, seller added the following information: Reserve has now been lowered to $4250. Lets get this beauty to a new and deserving home.
