Vehicle Detail

79 Catalina Safari for sale. Originally a California car so it has the factory Oldsmobile 403 motor that met that state's emission requirements. Heavy duty towing package including positrac rearend, transmission cooler, and TH400 heavy duty transmission. This car will pull nearly anything. It has full gauges and not idiot lights (no tach). It has a frame mounted hitch and even a working under-hood compressor for the self-levelling air shocks. The car runs great and shifts nice and firm. The paint is original and very well-kept. It is actually more of a light beige, rather than yellow. Finish is still shiny and only shows some paint chips and a ding here and there. No rust. The chrome bumpers are nearly perfect and have NO rust or damage. Grill chrome is perfect. The luggage rack is in great shape and only shows some light peppering on the pot-metal mounting brackets. Interior is very nice with minimal wear. Carpet is in great shape. There are no tears in the seating or door panels. The dash has some cracking by driver's side front speaker and a spot by the driver's door that can only be seen when door is open. The headliner is loose in spots, but JC Whitney has the fabric and adhesive to refurbish the headliner. All in all, you can tell this has been well-maintained over the years. The rear facing jump seat is perfect and operates great. The power rear window operates flawlessly by the key on tailgate and by the switch on the dash. The only thing some may see as a down side is that the other windows are not power. You have to crank them manually. As with any car this age there are some issues. Here is a list of what I am aware of: A/C needs charged/retrofitted. Compressor is not locked up and all components are there. Needs a new tailpipe. I would replace exhaust from catalytic converter back. Dimmer switch needs replaced. Headliner loose in places. Valve cover and oil pan leaks, but not enough to have to keep eye on oil level. We have enjoyed the car for about 5 years now, but have decided to let it go. It drives well and is in very good shape, but we are concentrating on other things now. The title shows 39,422 actual miles. It now has 41,040. I used it sparingly to run my mobile detailing calls and occasionally to pick up kids for the weekend. I drive it with no hesitation and get a kick out of it. When I bought it, I took Amtrak from Charlottesville, VA to Milwaukee, WI and drove it the 800 miles home without a hitch. I certainly wouldn't recommend such a trip, but it's what I did. I pride myself on my honesty and will not hesitate to answer any questions. If you would like to see more pictures or have questions, please e-mail me. I don't spend alot of time online, so please be patient and I will respond.
