Vehicle Detail
All I want for Christmas is a 1969 Porsche 911 T A real head-turner, not your ordinary Santa’s sleigh! This is a rare 1969 Porsche 911T Karmann body coupe with an improved engine. A major handling improvement for this model in 1969 was increasing the wheelbase 2.25 inches by shifting the rear wheels back, thus improving weight distribution. The 911T entered production in August 1968 with the initial U.S. version being equipped with: 911T -- 110 DIN horsepower European (125 SAE) at 5,800 rpm, 8.6:1 CR, 110 mph official top speed; base price (coupe): $5,995.00.This vehicle has: Manual, 5-speed transmission Rear engine, Rear wheel drive Four wheel ventilated disc brakes Rack & pinion steering Independent suspension with Anti-roll bar Wire rock guards over headlights AM/FM Cassette Radio Windshield wiper delay Owner’s Manual Too many other additional standard factory options to list. Indentifying Particulars: VIN Number: 119120462 Exterior Color: Polo Red Interior Color: Black Odometer: 9800ish with recent 2010 rebuild of speedometer/odometer, exact total mileage unknown. Engine Modifications: Retrofitted with a 1967 model 901 series, flat six cylinder air cooled engine from a 911S (“S” for SUPER), running 160 hp at 6600 rpm through twin carburetors and a total of 1991cc. The “S” engine boasted modifications typical of a higher-performance Porsche: reprofiled cam, larger valves, better porting, loftier compression (9.8:1 vs. 9.0), larger jets for the Weber carburetors. The result was 30 more horsepower for a total 160 DIN horsepower European (180 SAE). Torque improved fractionally, to 127 pound-feet, but peaked fully 1,000 rpm higher. This engine modification increased horsepower by over 35 horsepower and coupled with a tuned exhaust provides a “throaty” sound when running. The engine runs strong and does need occasional care since the dual carburetors can be problematic and need adjustment. It has not been raced, to our knowledge. Body Condition: Cosmetically, the car is in very nice condition. It could be a daily driver or just for those special occasions. The paintwork was done to very good standards, and is in very nice condition, with only a few small blemishes in the form of an occasional scratch or chip. The body is straight and solid, and the panels fit well and include RSR (Porsche’s Rally Sport Racing) door decals. The chrome trim is very good throughout, with only some scratches on the window trims. Body has no rust and no use of Bondo! The lights and glass are in very good condition throughout. The interior is presentable, with nice upholstery on the seats, door panels, and headliner. Driver’s seat has an upholstery split in the seat portion and needs repaired. The driver ’s seats back as well as all the other upholstered areas are in good shape. The upper dashboard is excellent, with none of the cracks or warping that typically affect these cars. The carpets are in good shape. The switches and controls do show some aging in places, and the steering wheel rim is also showing some age. The trunk is solid. The engine compartment is unrestored, but is very tidy and generally correct in appearance (see photos). No visible rust on undercarriage. The body has a major visually enhancing modification in the addition of a later model Porsche RSR style rear air scoop “whale tail”.
