Vehicle Detail
**The spots on the garage floor are rain water as I just drove the car into the garage. The car has no fluid leaks. This car was Volvo's Top-of-The-Line Vehicle in 2001, it has every option offered except GPS. I purchased this car as a Christmas present for my wife in December of 2004. The car was purchased from Diamond Auto Sales in CT, through EBAY for $14,601.-; we are only the second owners of this car. At the time the car had 64,000 miles on it and it now has 149,375. The car has been used as a "family wagon" to transport our three children around with and to transport my wife to and from her teaching job. I have owned four Volvo wagons, the other three have reached over 300,000 miles and to the best of my knowledge are still on the road. My local mechanic is a Volvo Certified Technician who's client base is 90% Volvo owners. About 9 months ago my in-laws gave my wife their Saab 9.5 with a five speed standard transmission. My wife loves to drive a standard and so our Volvo has seen almost no use as I have my own vehicle and our kids are to young to drive. I hate to see such a quality vehicle sit so I drove it to my mechanic today, asked him to look it over for me so that I could be completely up-front in my description of the car. He put it on the lift and gave it his normal used car check for me. I picked it up an hour ago, drove it home, put it back in the garage and took these pictures. It has been raining so it is wet in the pictures. I have not washed, waxed, cleaned or detailed this car in any way for these pictures. It is, at it's worst. I know that shine sells but shine doesn't always tell the true story. If you are impressed with it's condition now, imagine the car with a wax and detailing. The seats have no rips or tears, the interior is nice and could look new with a cleaning as there is no damage. Everything electrical in the car functions properly, from the power-heated seats to the sunroof. The stereo, power windows, locks and interior lights all function as they should. The exterior is very clean with no major flaws. There is a mark on the drivers side rear door (likely from a shopping cart) that could easily be buffed out, a ding on the passengers side rear quarter and one on a door near a window, all are shown in the pictures and are minor. If I didn't mention them you might not even see them in the pictures. The car runs and drives great and has been a pleasure to own. She starts with a slight turn of the key, run's quietly and handles like a dream. Not to mention that it is the best car in the snow that I've ever owned and I drive a Jeep. My wife just likes the Saab and we don't need both. Now to the mechanic's findings. First and foremast the car will need tires in the near future. They are roadworthy but should be replaced. The muffler system is fine but one of the hangers is broken and should be replaced, it isn't a problem but it might rattle from time to time. I haven't heard it and my wife never mentioned it but I trust my mechanic. The breaks are good and work properly but have a slight noise when applied due to the car having limited use lately. The mechanic feels that they will quiet with use as the sound is minimal and there is no pulsation or pull. The service/check engine light is on due to the car needing an oil change. As my mechanic is heading off on vacation and I will be out of town for the Holidays I will not have time to have the oil change and service lights reset. I will, however, give the winning bidder a gift certificate for an oil change at one of the national chain oil service places like Jiffy-Lube. The car also needs a right-rear turn signal bulb which is a $3 item. That's it. If I were planning on using the car again for my family I would change the tires, change the oil and have a general service performed for "peace of mind" and fuel economy. There is a reason that Volvo's are among the safest cars on the road and that they are often on the road for over 300,000 miles and that is quality of build. I can assure you that this won't be our last Volvo. I'm selling this only because we aren't using it and a car this nice deserves to be on the road. I'm not a dealer so I'm not offering a warranty or guarantee with this vehicle. It will be an "as-is", "where-is" transaction so please bid accordingly. I and my family will be away visiting family around New England for the Holidays and will not be here to show the vehicle. I should have access to a computer so please ask all of your questions before bidding. My auctions are always NO RESERVE AUCTIONS, HIGH BIDDER WINS. The winning bidder must pay a $1000 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of the Auction's close and the balance within 3 days of the Auction's close either by cash, bank check or PayPal. The car can be picked up at any point within 2 weeks of the auctions close. If any of these guidelines are missed the vehicle will be re-listed. Please don't bid if you can't abide by these guidelines. The car currently holds a NADA Blue Book Retail Value of $6,750, and a Trade-In Value of $4,575. On Dec-27-11 at 10:01:35 PST, seller added the following information: I'm back from the Holiday family visits. Now it's time for other members of the family to visit here but I thought I would answer all of the questions I've received in bulk. For those who have asked. 1. There are approximately 50 people following "watching" the listing. 2. The car has not been registered for nearly a year now. 3. Before receiving her "new" car my wife drove the vehicle on a daily basis. 4. Since sitting the service and check engine lights now come on when started, no other lights are showing. The lights could be from sitting or anything/everything that these lights signify. Please research before bidding. 5. We have not had the car serviced as we decided to just sell it "as-is", as it is more then ten years old and we have no need for a third car. 6. It was looked over by a mechanic last week who put it on a lift and test drove it, afterward he offered to purchase it for $2,000. After discussing it with my wife I chose to list it myself. 7. As listed the car will minimally need tires and should be fully serviced by a qualified mechanic if you intend to drive it, (many have implied that the car will be parted out for a profit if they win the auction). When I purchase on EBAY Motors, and I've done it a lot with boats and a car or two, I follow this guideline: "Bid with a worse-case scenario in mind". This may be blunt but I just want no misunderstandings, you are not buying from a dealer so please bid as a "parts car" or a "fixer upper", as it does need, minimally, the service listed that the mechanic mentioned and there is no guarantee or money back option.
