Vehicle Detail

Sometimes pictures can be deceiving. Vehicles often look better in photographs than they do up close. Not this 41 year old Chevy! She looks as good as she does in the pictures, and maybe even better. Not a scratch or a dent on her, anywhere. She was rebuilt by a professional restorer who sold me the truck just days after the restoration was complete. The original owner gave the truck to the restorer to sell in order to pay for the restoration because when the time came to pay for it he didn't have the money. Since buying it I've driven it less than 100 miles. I'm selling it because, quite embarrassingly, my buying it was rather a surprise to my wife and has caused some problems between us because of our finances. In short, if we didn't need the money, I'd be keeping this truck until the day I died. I've always owned an old pickup until just a few years ago and I missed driving one so badly that I sprung for this one on an impulse. Next time, I'll probably check with my better half before I plunge in. Here are the rebuild specs given to me by the restorer: 12-238-2 competition cam and lifter set with 469 lift Edelbrock 650 afb carb with electric choke roller timing chain screw in studs in cylinder heads push rod guides 1968-69 Chevrolet Camaro 350 400 Turbo transmission Flowmaster dual exhaust with cross over lowered 2.5 inches front / 3 inches rear -- dropped spindles front power disc brakes, rear drum 15 inch chrome wheel 8 inch front 10 inch rear BFG tires chrome alternator HEI distributor with Mallory ignition headers coated 1955-57 Chevrolet pickup green paint all new weatherstripping 2 inch cowl inducted hood steel new windshield tinted shaded all glass factory tinted all new rubber around doors and windows new grille and outer surround new master cylinder Vega steering wheel spray in bed liner, color matched factory original license plates Since getting it I have replaced a defective carburetor gasket which had been damaged in the installation, and had the speedometer calibrated to compensate for the smaller tires. So what's wrong with this truck. The radio/cassette player was not replaced and it sucks. That would be my first and likely only additional investment. And someone who came up to compliment me on my truck told me the left rear brake light is out. I'll replace that. That's it. The rest is one fine truck. Oh, and as to the color? Sometimes the pictures make it look turquoise. It isn't. It is 1955 Chevrolet green. It's a great color and one heck of a great paint job. There is no reserve on this, so if you're the high bidder this pickup is yours, ready to drive away anwhere you want to take her. I am mostly retired, so if you need someone to deliver her, it is possible that I could drive this truck and deliver it for a per diem and airfare back to Oregon. Good luck and happy bidding. Added Dec 23: Apparently SOMEBODY is planning to sneak in in the final minutes of this auction and steal this truck from the other currently 45 folks who are "Watching" this auction! Good luck, whoever you are :-) Added Dec 26: OK, I give up! I just cut the opening bid to $1000 less than I paid for this truck two months ago, and now, maybe, Black Friday bargain hunters will stop "Watching" and start Buying!
