I have owned this Tercel for about 16 years. It is a super clean '91 and a vehicle that anyone would be proud to own. This is my toy. Don't like the automatic transmission? It comes with a spare 5 speed manual with the pedals, slave cyl. and other conversion parts. to convert it. It will need need a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing. A couple of years ago, I decided to retire the tired 3EFE engine and replace it with a Toyota Starlet 4EFTE engine. The 4EFTE engine was shipped all over the world. It is a turbo engine with a great reputation for reliability. I purchased a low mileage engine out of Japan. It was part of a front "clip"and the mileage was 32K miles and change. The Tercel came with a 3 speed automatic transmission which limited the fuel economy and highway speeds to about 75 MPH. The car has power steering and cold air conditioning. It is fully street legal and passed the emissions test with flying colors. This vehicle has never been wrecked and I wouldn't be afraid to drive this car anywhere. It has never been driven in snow and ice and there is absolutely not rust. It is only running 12 pounds boost but it is very quick. The turbo is capable of boosts up to 20 pounds. It was dyno tuned by Kenny Tran, at Jotech, and he was impressed with the car. Understand, this car only weighs about 1850 pounds and 178 HP at the wheels is a lot of power for a light car. As a senior citizen, I really just wanted a nice performing car and not interested in drag racing. I have to admit that it has embarrased a friend's Mustang GT, a Hemi Ram and one CTS-V. I swapped the speedometer at the same time as the engine, when it had 125K miles. I haven't put 3,000 miles on the car in the last two and a half years. It was painted a couple of years ago and has never been in the rain since. I have recently replaced the hoses, drive axles and wiper blades. The tires are in good shape and won't need replacement for a long time. It has power steering and cold air conditioning. I constantly get comments from people that admire the car. It often draws a crowd.It is sitting in my garage. My apartment only has a one car garage and my daily driver was broken in to. I rarely drive it but still paying insurance. It was a difficult decision to part with the car. This vehicle is listed on both Backpage and Craigslist. I park it on the street with a for sale sign.
