Vehicle Detail
This is an all original 1966 Riviera. I have owned it since 1989. The car runs but needs attention to the body and various other items. The odometer died shortly after I bought the car and shows 76,000. This of course is not the actual mileage and I honestly can't give an actual estimate. It's was driven on and off from 1990 until 1995, since then it's been a weekend ride. It has the 425ci nailhead with the rare aluminum finned valve covers. The engine runs and has never been rebuilt since I owned it. It does use some oil between oil changes. The carburetor is the one year only Rochester Quardrajet and it works perfectly. The transmission is the 400 and doesn't seem to have any issues. The rear is a 3:42 posi. This is the original drivetrain. The interior is also original green bench seat with bucket backs and original front and rear Buick tri-shield mats. The front seats have lost much of the foam with the driver's seat being the worst. It has A/C, power windows, tilt, cruise, vacuum trunk release, power antenna, AM/FM radio and rear defrost blower. I also have the buick wood wheel with working horn bar. These steering wheels are extremely rare. This one has some pitting in the chrome but is complete, I also have the original matching green wheel that's near mint. The driver window is slow but works, the trunk release works but the line should be replaced, the antenna will not go up but the motor sounds when you activate the button and the rear defrost doesn't blow even though the switch has been replaced. The cruise control does work. It has a new ignition switch and still runs with original ignition points. It has an original Buick right side outside rear view mirror. The car is a true twenty footer as the body has rust in the lower rear panels and it still has it's original paint. Don't be fooled by the picture, the paint is rough and has yellowed is some areas. The body definitely needs to be stripped so the rust can be addressed. The glass and chrome is all original. The dash lights are dim and do not light up on the left side of the odometer. The hide-away headlight motors work fine. I recently had the brakes done, new shoes and hardware. They are four way drums. The car runs and drives well as is but would benefit from a total resoration. The tires are 2 years old and have the very rare turbine spinner hubcaps that I added during the 90's. I have the original GM boxes for the spinner hubcaps. When I bought the car in 1989 the battery would not hold a charge so a local electrical shop bypassed the voltage regulator and installed a modern self regulated alternator. Along with the car I'm including another air cleaner that needs painting, the one on the car is dented. There is an extra timing cover, a pair of factory chrome valve covers, a set of standard '66 Riviera hubcaps and various engine parts also included. I also have an original GM emergency flasher that was never installed. I'm selling the car because I have a '72 and can't devote the time and effort to restore the '66. I will try to post more pictures of some close ups as I get them in the following days.On Dec-06-11 at 19:28:59 PST, seller added the following information: Dec 6, 2011 I've added some pics of the rear lower quarters so you can see the rust. I also added some dash shots and a picture of the rear passenger fender.
