Vehicle Detail
Model Details The Grand Marquis was introduced as a model in its own right in 1983, when the base Marquis and Marquis Brougham nameplates were moved to the mid-sized Fox platform. The Grand Marquis nameplate remained on the Panther platform as Mercury's flagship sedan. It continued to be produced at Ford's St. Louis Assembly Plant, but production was shifted to St. Thomas Assembly in Canada during the 1985 model year. The only changes that were made in changing the full-sized Marquis into the Grand Marquis was the adoption of Central Fuel Injection (replacing the two-barrel carburetor), new taillights, and a new grille. The Grand Marquis was available in three body styles: a two-door sedan, a four-door sedan, and a station wagon. After 1983, the station wagon was discontinued, subsequently offered only as the woodgrained Colony Park; it shared much of its interior trim with the deluxe-trim Grand Marquis LS sedan. The 2-door sedan was dropped from the lineup in the later part of 1986 due to slow sales; Grand Marquis coupes are hard to find today. Mechanical details The 4.9 L (302 cu in) 5.0 Windsor V8 was the only engine available from model years 1983–1985, coupled with a four-speed AOD automatic. From 1986-1991 The Grand Marquis was also available with a 5.8 L (351 cu in) Windsor V8 but was a rare option according to ALLDATA. The new Grand Marquis sold well, and remained virtually unchanged until 1986, when it received sequential electronic fuel injection and all production moved to the St. Thomas plant. You are looking at and hopefully bidding on a 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park Station Wagon. The exterior color is light blue with wood grain. The interior is dark blue velour and shows no wear. The Colony Park Wagon showcased Fords dual facing rear seats and made the wagon have 8 passenger seating. (Kids love the facing rear seats.) It also featured Ford's two-way Magic Doorgate (can be opened downwards or sideways). This beautiful vehicle is equipped with: Air conditioning (converted to R134), AM/FM stereo radio, Power steering, Power brakes, Automatic transmission, Power driver seat, Power windows including rear tailgate window, Power mirrors, Power door locks, Remote keyless entry with 2 transmitters and REMOTE START, Tilt steering wheel, Rear window defroster, Side facing rear seats, Luggage rack, Cornering lights and Exterior coach lights. Everything works!!!!! Within last 8 months - new transmission, new fuel pump, A/C recharged, correct replacement stand-up hood ornament and new under-hood insulation. The paint is in very good condition for a 24 year old car, it looks like a 1 - 2 year old car. There is only one exterior surface rust area behind the left rear wheel. There is no rust through. Tires are in good condition. We are the third owner. The second owner purchased the car when it was three years old and drove it until last year when his 92 year old eyesight was failing and he could no longer drive. He was a mechanic and the car was meticulously maintained. This wagon is ready to transport the whole family to Burger King and also to Wally World if you so desire. Photos were taken Feb 2011, condition has not changed in any way. I have a car hauling trailer and would be willing to deliver this car for $1.00 per loaded mile.
