1997 Porsche Boxster project car. This car runs very well, but needs work. Recently driven 1.25 hours back from the dealer without any trouble. Current mileage is 178,224. Recent repairs at 176,314 miles include new water pump, thermostat, belt, front wheel bearing, oil change($1047) At 178, 157 miles the Antifreeze overflow tank was replaced and the coolant was flushed and replaced ($939). The front bumper was replaced within the last year ($1,000). The windshield was replaced 2 years or so. The engine was replaced approximately 50,000 miles ago, I believe with a 2000 or 2002 engine (approximately $12,000), prior to my owning it. I have recently replaced the rear light covers (had small cracks) The vehicle is in average, daily driver shape at best. Has been diagnosed recently as needing a head gasket. I took it to the dealer who confirmed that it needs a head gasket (they thought initially it was just a cracked coolant tank) and possibly a cylinder sleeve/insert has slipped. Other needs include: the air bag light is on (driver belt buckle needs replaced), left rear wheel bearing needs replaced, the a/c needs recharged. the front tires need replaced, the front abd rear sway bar links ned replaced/repaired, the rear struts are bad, the cabin filter needs replaced. The canvas top has a couple small tears in it and the back window is not great. The dash has had something mounted on it with something sticky, which has caused some damage to the dash. The center console needs to be replaced. There is a small dent in the driver side rear of car. The front side reflector light is missing. The driver side seat has tears in it. That is about all I know. Most of the information has come from the repair shop recommendations. The car still and has always ran well. The reason I took it in was that is was running slightly warm.
