1988 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE CAR NUMBER: 1G1YY3181J5119027 ENGINE: Chevy 350 Fuel Injected V-8 TRANSMISSION: Factory 4-speed Automatic COLOR: White (original color) INTERIOR: Red FACTORY PRODUCTION: Only 7,407 convertibles were produced in 1988 AFTER THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION ARE OVER 60 DETAILED PHOTOGRAPHS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. One of these days you just might open the door of that special sports car, strap yourself in, and take off down the highway! Such an exciting automobile as this beautiful 1988 Corvette convertible may suit you perfectly. Certainly this unspoiled, superb running and driving California classic is ready to go. This could be just the one you’ve been waiting for! DISCOVERY I found this gem over 3 years ago, nestled in the garage of Mr. Taylor, a school teacher in the Los Angeles area. He had told me that, nearing retirement, he was streamlining his life, parting with a few cars from his life-long collection. Mr. Taylor had invested a large amount of time, money, and dedication over the years, making this absolutely gorgeous Corvette much of what it is today. COSMETICS The first thing that attracted my attention was the paint. I thought “Oh, my goodness.” This car has obviously been garaged and well cared for. In my opinion, the finish looks very close to new, as does the top and interior. And this automobile is very VERY straight. When you get a chance, look down the sides of this Corvette in some of the photographs that follow. In them you will see a car that looks, in my opinion, as from the factory. It doesn’t get much better than this! I have been able to find NO SIGNS OF CANCEROUS RUST anywhere underneath the car, or anywhere else, for that matter. All chrome, rubber, glass, insignias, lenses and more are in very good to as-new condition. The rear tires are in good condition, the front two fair, good for another estimated 3-5,000 miles. The windshield looks excellent. THE INTERIOR, in my opinion, looks as good in person, as it does in the photographs. All carpets, seats, door panels, kick panels, gearshift knob, control knobs and switches, correct rear view mirror, door openers, seat belts, CONVERTIBLE TOP and more are in very good to superbly excellent condition. I purchased the rare, NEW OLD STOCK steering wheel on ebay last year (it was still in the factory original box) for $400. Includes as-new floor mats, correct sun visors in excellent condition (not shown in the photographs), and Pioneer DEH-P2000 Mosfet 45w-4 CD player. MECHANICS But the best is yet to come! This fine classic, in my opinion drives in many ways like a 2 year-old automobile. The correct 5.8 L fuel injected engine fires right up, runs strong, does not smoke, has EXCELLENT OIL PRESSURE, and does everything these trustworthy little power plants have been doing so well for so many years. It has recently been serviced with new synthetic oil and filter. Included with the car are receipts from the previous owner for a new radiator, hoses, thermostat, oil cooler pipe, AC service, repaired power door locks and related, low temp switch, fan to come on at 185 degrees, replaced deck lit soft top release cables, work to successfully pass recent smog compliance and more. I had a new horn installed, all soft top rubber replaced, and had a new central catalytic converter installed. The automatic transmission falls in gear nicely and shifts as smooth as glass. I’ve recently given the tranny a complete service including, of course, all new fluids The rear brakes are new, the front brakes are at 50%, the power steering responsive, the suspension tight, and the car is a joy on the open road. The throaty dual exhaust is a trip in and of itself, that may well make chills run up and down your spine! WHAT WORKS? Among other things, headlights, including high and low beams, both headlight pop-up mechanisms, dash high beam light, all gauges, including gas, speedometer, odometer, tachometer, oil pressure and heat gauges, dash gauge illumination, tail lights, including brake lights and running lights, all side lights, turn signals, including tail light flashers, dash flashers, front flashers, turn signal switch, all interior courtesy lights, emergency flashers, windshield wipers, license plate lights, oil pressure on/off switch, range and trip switch, instant fuel rate switch, coolant temp on/off switch, power door locks with remote, horn, both adjustable door mirrors, all dash vent adjusters, driver power seat, service engine soon light, battery warning light, etc., fan, interior and exterior door openers, hood latch, and more. Currently, the engine compartment light, cigarette lighter and emergency brake are not working. The power antenna should be replaced. The passenger power seat will go forward, but not back. The air conditioning works fine, but the AC and heater switches do not work. The heater has not been tested. The power windows are on welfare … they work when they feel like it! The above is based on my personal observation, and is not a professional inspection or warranty, nor is it an exhaustive analysis of what is correct, or not correct for this year automobile. You can expect that some things may not work up to your mechanics standards, and that he/she will most likely find additional work that he would like to do. INCLUDES Includes good California title with current registration, a 1988 Corvette Owners Manual, spare tire, the previously mentioned car mats and receipts for much of the work mentioned above. No problem! Just contact me for details. NEED A TRANSPORT RECOMMENDATION? I’ve used the following transporter many times. They are reliable, communicate well, are user friendly and a family owned business: De Moise Trk-ing (the spelling is correct), based in Greer, South Carolina. Office (864) 609-9390 Cell (602)549-2032 Contact person, Bill or Larry DeMoise. NOTE: If you are considering another transport company, try and determine if they own their own trucks, of if they are merely a broker, arranging transport for you with whatever company they can. My advice, based on experience, is that normally you should not deal with a transport broker, but directly with the trucking company. All the eBest, CRAIG KENDALL
