Up for auction is this 1949 Chevy Deluxe 4 door sedan. I aquired the car on a trade with another vehicle earlier this year from a friend of mine. They had it in the family for quite a few years and in 1990 had it completely painted because it was used as a parade car. It hasn't run for several years , so when I got it I installed a new battery ( 6 volt ) and did a tune up, and it started right up! The waterpump was stuck, so I bought a new one and installed it, so now everything works as far as the engine is concerned. It is a 3 speed on the column and the transmission engages fine, the clutch feels good, and the car moves very easily. I used an external fuel source ( a bottle ) to run it because I am not sure if the gas tank is clean or not, and did not want to contaminate the carb. The brakes are really spongy so it is not safe to drive. The right rear tire leaks and is dry rotted. The drivers side window is cracked. As you can see from the photos, the car is very solid, but will need attention to bring it back to perfect condition. This is a low mileage vehicle, and has a lot of potential, but in its obvious condition, I am selling it as is.
