Vehicle Detail
1976 Beetle A TOTAL RESTORER'S DREAM! NOTE: VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING FOR 4 YEARSThis was my only transportation for 7 years, and has NEVER failed me. It was maintained by 'Witt' - a very respected VW mechanic in Vancouver. That said, I have not started it, or even tried for about 2 years. Although it ran perfectly at that time, the current condition of the motor is unknown! It may be very little effort to get it running, but I am selling it AS IS.(If I were to put the time in to make sure it was running, I wouldn't be offering it at this low starting price) DETAILS:IMPORTANT: In the listing below, anything listed as 'new' (repairs or parts) refers to the status when the vehicle was freshly parked - almost 4 years ago. • Black with gold trim (repainted - original colour was metalic gold) • this car was imported from Germany to California, then brought up to Canada (I believe this '76 Gold Bug was some sort of anniversary or special edition)• standard, 4 speed • 1600 cc engine with very good compression • Fuel injected • Good radial tires, spare tire • A bit of surface rust, but NO 'body cancer' • Well maintained, regular servicing • New seals in sunroof • Good glass throughout (v. small crack in front windshield) • Elecrically sound (all lighting, etc. fully functional) • New transmission • New airflow meter • New battery • New brakes • Includes winter cable chains NOW THE HONEST, BITTER TRUTH...• No heater • Radio does not work properly • Slight crack in rear, a bit of bondo there • Actual mileage not known • Interior needs serious work • Vehicle is in B.C., Canada (about one hour North of Porthill, Idaho) - transportation of this vehicle is totally up to purchaser. In these photos (they were taken almost 4 years ago) I've tried to display every problem/current state of wear re: this vehicle, so that the purchaser will get NO SURPRISES. Please look at all the images for clarification. If you need specific photos, to show more exact status or details, ONCE YOU HAVE BID, I will gladly take whatever photos you wish and e them to you directly. This is to help you to assess how much or little you should bid for this vehicle. If you send me a message, I'll do my best to answer any questions I can for you. Thanks for your interest in my beloved Beetle!Michelle On Nov-20-11 at 14:35:17 PST, seller added the following information: Just for fun... Found this little video of getting the beetle dug out after a big snowfall, and driving it down a driveway - December 14, 2003.This was just after we moved out the middle of nowhere. http://youtu.be/H-E7Gs6oJh0On Nov-20-11 at 17:05:56 PST, seller added the following information: Hello,We've been getting a lot of inquiries about this beetle, so I want to make sure I clarify things, again. We don't know the actual current status of the beetle. An experienced mechanically minded person might be able to throw a battery in it, spend a couple of hours draining the old fuel, getting it running ok, lubricate whatever needs it, etc. and drive it away.Alternately, the engine may be beyond repair, and have to be completely scrapped. We honestly have NO IDEA, and are offering it, AS IS. Also, we live above Kootenay Lake, in British Columbia. Our driveway is 1km long, and quite rough (which is why we stopped driving the beetle, we needed a 4X4) You can see exactly where we live by punching the following coordinates into Google Earth. It will take you right to our property: 49 36 51.36 N, 116 46 56.12 W We're an hour from any sizeable town. It a very undeveloped area. Thanks for looking. Good luck bidding. Respectfully Michelle and WillOn Nov-23-11 at 16:45:50 PST, seller added the following information: We're about an hour North of the U.S. border, and an hour from a town - in the middle of NowHere, overlooking Kootenay Lake. Our preferential method of payment (after the initial PayPal deposit, noted here) is CA$H. That is much easier for us. Please take this into consideration. Also, the snow has just begun here. It will make picking up this vehicle a bit more of an ordeal. Our driveway is long and rough.I'm sure it will still happen without incident, it just won't be 'easy'. Just want to be clear about our scenario, before you bid. Thanks for reading.Michelle & WillOn Nov-23-11 at 17:56:44 PST, seller added the following information: Because we've had so much interest here, and I realize that very few of you interested live close by, we'll be postingNEW PHOTOS TOMORROW, just so that you can all see the current, exact status of what you may be bidding on.
