0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false This Datsun 1200 race car was successfully campaigned in SCCA ITC and ITD competition in the 1980s and 1990s. It ran primarily in the San Francisco Region, and raced occasionally in Southern California including at least one appearance at Riverside. The car runs fine and is drivable, though it will need an extensive re-commissioning in order to be race-ready again. The red and yellow livery shows fairly well, and several period stickers for regional race victories still adorn the rear quarter windows. Having been parked outdoors for an extended period, the interior would benefit from an extensive cleaning. The dash has been completely removed, with only the necessary gauges and instruments present. The car is also equipped with a higher-discharge MSD ignition. A welded differential was replaced with a stock diff to enhance usability in its current form. Rear axle bearings and fuel hoses were also replaced. The car has a new battery and terminal. There is some surface rust on the exterior and underbody as the photos show. As with any regularly campaigned racer, the rocker panels show worn jacking points (see photos). The car comes with an SCCA logbook and the original owner's manual. This is a cheap entry into vintage racing, and it is becoming increasingly eligible in several vintage organizations. In racing form these 1200s can be driven quite quickly and have the ability to keep up with faster competition. The car does not have a title. It is offered with a bill of sale.
