NO RESERVE - MUST GO BY 12/1 Up for auction is this one of a kind 1963 Cadillac. I bought this car in March of this year, with the intention of doing some minor fixes to it and having it as a kick-ass, flat black, Caddy Rat-Rod. However, my new job requires that I move from the suburbs into Manhattan, and the expense of keeping a car like this down in midtown is just too much for me. When I bought the car, I paid $9500.00 for it. Here's a rough breakdown of what she's like, please feel free to ask me questions if I don't address any of your concerns -THE GOOD - This car rolls on nice rims, and new tires, flat black paint job and a stealth look. The paint is in good shape, there are spots where the bodywork could use some more time and patience, but since it's flat black, it's an easy fix to do yourself. Mechanically, this car is SOUND, it runs like an absolute top, doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil, coolant, or tranny fluid. I've had her doing 70-80mph for well over 2 hours, with no problems, or stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic for over 2-3 hours with no overheating at all, even during hot summer days. There's a brand new stereo system that I put in it, a Custom Autosound USA-630 with iPod and USB hookup. This radio is the best option for this Caddy, as it sits right behind the original radio placement, with NO alteration to the dash whatsoever. You wouldn't even know that this was a modern unit until you turn it on and see the LCD screen light up. When it's off, it looks like an old school dial radio, and has a Cadillac badge on it. The wires for the USB and iPod / iPhone input are routed to the glovebox, totally out of sight. For more info, you can check out their page here - http://www.casmfg.com/Caddy_Olds_Buick_Radios.htm The interior is in excellent shape for a car of this age, with the only place really showing wear being the driver's seat, which without the cover on, has a few tears in it. If you look around, you can find brand new seat covers for the front and rear, which would run you about $250-$500, depending on what you want, or you can go with the cheap-o route and put a $40 seat cover on the front seat, I've never had a complaint about it. THE BAD - (but very fixable) While this car is in great shape, I wanted to list the items that I planned on repairing on the Caddy had I been able to keep her. Here are the following plans in my head that I made- 1) Cracked driver's side window (still works & doesn't leak) this will cost about $50-$125 2) Exhaust - the car is quiet, but the exhaust rattles. While you could probably get some new brackets and tighten it up, replacing the system is cheap, at about $250-$400, so that's what I planned to do. 3) Shocks & Suspension - this is the worst detail of the Caddy right now, the shocks and suspension should be replaced soon. While it runs and drives just fine, daily driving (more than 2-4 times a week) makes the suspension more flexible, and it's time that they get upgraded. The good news is that it's cheap to do, especially if you do it yourself, with the whole thing costing about $400 tops. 4) Rubber - I replaced the rubber seal around the window and doors with brand new Steele Rubber, and if I was keeping her, I'd probably replace all the felts, and remaining rubber on the trunk, windshield, rear window, and fly windows as well. It's not urgent, and all these parts are cheap, and still made today, very easy to install. 5) Interior - As I mentioned above, the front driver's seat has a few tears without the cover on, and it should either be recovered, or reupholstered. If I was keeping it, I'd probably pull out the carpet too, and the headliner, since they're both cheaply replaced, at around $75-$125 each. 6) Chrome - If you look around eBay, you can find really cheap chrome parts for this Caddy (a lot of '63's and 64's have interchangeable parts too) and I'd probably replace those with nicer ones as time went on. A GREAT DEAL ON A CLASSIC - My opening bit is set for $3999.00, with NO RESERVE which is WAY below what I paid for it, since I'm moving on 12/1, and I don't have the time or place to store the car through the winter. My loss is DEFINITELY your gain, this is a great opportunity to get a classic in your garage, do a little light wrenching on it over the winter, and have one AWESOME machine to bop around with come the spring. If anyone would like to see the car locally, please let me know, and you're welcome to swing by and take a drive. She's insured, registered, inspected, and on the road. PAYMENT DETAILS - 500.00 dollar deposit required through paypal within 2 business days, and the balance must be completely paid for within 7 days by money order, certified cashier check, cash day of pick up, or wire transfer. Please, do NOT bid unless you intend to purchase the car, I intend to be VERY strict with the terms of payment. In terms of shipping, I'd encourage everyone to do their own research, but I don't mind hanging on to the car until 12/1 for shipment AS LONG AS the payment in full has been made, as described above.
