Vehicle Description Original California Car, Convertible with removable Hard Top and foldable Soft Top, 92,700 miles. Silver blue exterior, blue interior, Automatic Transmission, Original Becker Europa AM/FM/ stereo, Power Steering, Power windows, Power locks, Cruise control, Air conditioning, Heated back window and currently registered in California. Vehicle Condition You are bidding on a Mercedes Benz 450 SL 1978 in excellent condition inside and out. Body: no accidents, no rust, absolutely no dents, dings or scratches!!! Glass in excellent shape. Paint: Original color, hyper glossy silver blue (Astral Silver). Paint looks excellent all around; Vehicle has been repainted with Dupont Chromabase paint and clear coat (label still in the car with paint type & code) then wet sanded and polished. Car was stripped when painted. Pictures: you can see more than 100 detailed pictures of this car Exterior: all moldings (chrome and plastic) in very good shape, bumpers and bumper moldings in very good shape (front bumper have some small dings and scratches behind the license plate frame), lights and plastics in very good shape with no fading or cracking. Chrome: in very good shape inside and out. Wheels: original alloy wheels in excellent shape structurally and cosmetically. No curb damage. Spare wheel: same type in excellent shape. Engine: Excellent, Always starts fine, idles smooth, runs smooth and extremely powerful, doesn't burn or take any oil. No leaks Complete tuned up recently done, oil and filter recently changed. Vehicle just passed California emissions inspection. Automatic Transmission: Excellent, Shifts smooth, Fluid is Crystal Clear. No noises or weird sounds!!. no leaks!! Recently serviced: Oil, filter and gaskets. Suspension and Steering: Excellent ride, feel solid and stable even at high speed on the freeway. All suspension components are tight. Alignment was performed when inspected. Brakes: Excellent condition, Car brakes straight with no vibrations or noises. 50% wear on brake pads. Instruments and Warning lights: All in perfect working condition. All external lights, turn signals, hazard lights, high beams, instrument cluster lights in perfect working condition. Clock is working too!. Speedometer and odometer are working fine. Climate Control: Air conditioning is NOT blowing cold and may need recharge or repair, heater works fine. Interior: Original seats in excellent shape, Velour carpeting in excellent shape, Headliner in excellent shape, original dashboard in excellent shape with no cracks, center console in excellent shape, door panels in excellent shape. Chrome accents in nice condition. Interior looks like new. This is a non-smoker vehicle! Tires: BF Goodrich tires in four corners with plenty of thread about 70%. Spare tire with plenty of thread left. Tops: Hard top in excellent condition (like the rest of the car) (chrome moldings in very good shape). Soft top is brand new (premium canvas type), blue color, clear plastic windows are in excellent shape. Original top removal tool is included. Headliners: both in excellent shape (soft and hard tops). Power features: All power equipment in perfect working condition: power windows, power locks, power steering, winshield wiper, I have not tested the cruise control yet, I will try it this week and post the result. Sound System: Original German Becker Europa works fine, Hirschman power automatic antenna in perfect working condition. Miscellaneous: Jack and wrench also included. Original tool set included. A CD with complete service & shop repair manual is included with the vehicle. Owners manual is also included but its condition is not very good (it got wet at some point and some pages are sticked). Car History: Car was donated to a Charity Foundation by its owner. I was unable to contact the owner to get more info about the car as the Charity has a privacy policy that doesn’t allow us contact the donors in regards to the vehicle’s history. Included with the vehicle is a folder with copies of invoices for thousands of dollars spent in new parts found in the trunk. Inspection: The car was inspected by a certified mechanic and he stated that it was a extremely well maintained car, no leaks of any kind. All vacuum lines in perfect shape, distributor cap and wires in very good shape, brakes pads and rotors in good shape, undercarriage with no rust, no accident damage and no signs of any repair done, shocks in very good condition. Compression test has been performed with a reading of 118 to 121 psi on all cylinders, exactly what Mercedes considers normal for a healthy engine (21 psi is the permissible difference between individual cylinders). Belts and hoses in good shape, antifreeze within specifications. Oil and filter change was performed when inspected. California Smog check performed when inspected and valid for 90 days.
