Conceived by renowned Italian designer Giugiaro, the Impulse was a successful rear-wheel drive sport compact of the 1980s. This example features a strong 2.3-liter SOHC 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed automatic transmission. All Impulses received a Lotus-tuned suspension beginning in 1988, which featured redesigned sway bars and slightly stiffer settings for a sportier ride. The exterior of the car has some minor dents and dings, however the original paint shows fairly well despite being faded in some places (see photos). Power windows and mirrors work fine, though the cruise control could not be set when recently tested. A/C blows marginally cooler air. The clean interior and underbody are signs that this car has been treated well over its lifetime. The Impulse was a significant design milestone at the time, transitioning from its concept form into production with very few changes.
