Vehicle Detail
1963 Gmc Suburban in great condition! It was bought new in Whittier, California and has been in Whittier all it's life. I am the third owner. Since I bought it I have gone through it starting with rebuilt front suspension from a 1974 Chevy truck,it was stripped, powder coated and reassembled with all new bushings, ball joints and tie rods, shock absorbers. The disc front brakes have new 1 1/4" rotors, new calipers hoses and lines.New wheel bearings. The 1974 power steering box is reconditioned. The rear axle is also '74 truck. It was inspected and found to be in good condition. Complete new brakes were fitted along with new shocks.New master cylinder and brake booster. A tow hitch receiver is fitted and wired so it is ready for towing. The wheels are original 60's E/T's that have been restored. They are 6"x15". Radial tires with plenty of life left are fitted. The engine is a 196 429 Cadillac that was completely rebuilt by Jay Steel at Taylor engines. I have the build sheet. It is all stock apart from a 750 Edelbrock carb and Petronix ignition.New dual exhaust with turbo type mufflers nice and mellow. It runs great! It fits in the Suburban's engine compartment like it was meant to be there. It is hooked to a 700r4 overdrive transmission from Toy Shop Transmissions in Ontario California. It was beefed for towing to handle the torque of the Cad engine. This setup works really well, She just cruises at freeway speeds the vacumn gauge barely off idle in overdrive. It gets great gas mileage! It is cooled by a heavy duty recored stock radiator. The gas tank was cleaned and coated, new sending unit was fitted. New fuel line. The body is in very nice condition having lived in this dry area all it's life. It was repainted in the beautiful GM Galway Green & White top just over a year ago.Original front bumper was rechromed. The grille is the original chrome in good condition. The rear bumper was missing when i got the 'burb, I was unable to find a good original one so I used a repro front bumper. It works! the rest of the trim, lights badges e.t.c are in good shape. The Interior features The orignal rare three row seating. It is hard to find these Suburbans with the complete original seating. The two rear seats have their original upholstery it is in nice shape with only a couple of seams in the vinyl coming apart and a couple of nicks here and there. The cloth is good. The front seat having more wear and tear has had the cloth replaced at some point. There is a long tear in the top of the backrest vinyl. The Dash and front door inside panels were repainted in the original gold color. There are extra 2 5/8" Stewart warner gauges including oil, vacumn and ameter. The rest of the interior is the original paint showing a bit of wear but not bad for its age. The cargo floor original rubber mat is in very nice condition. The nice thing about the GMC's is they have sliding rear side glass and the seats are mounted on tracks so they can be moved in different configurations or easily removed. The headliner and sunvisors are in very good condition. There is only approximately 2000 miles on this Truck since the rebuild so there is many many miles to be enjoyed in her. If you have any questions or would like to come check her out please feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking! On Oct-15-11 at 14:08:37 PDT, seller added the following information: I should add a couple of things, The original floor mat in the front has dissintegrated, currently it is just bare floorboards. Also the front outer bumper brackets are missing, the bumper is still solidly mounted though
