This 1974 FJ-40, (VIN FJ40184419), was part of a Toyota FJ-40 / FJ-60 collection related to the sell of an estate. The mileage shown, of 27,506 miles, is believed to be correct, based on the information received. This FJ-40 is suffering from a bad case of “body rust”, especially along the rear sides and rear body panels, although the frame appears to be in reasonably good condition. This vehicle is a prime candidate for restoration. As you can see from the photos the FJ-40 is “original”, with all parts, having never been modified. The vehicle was running fine last year, when stored, with a strong engine and drive train, although it has not been started since. The problem is with body rust, obviously having been “outside” for a number of years. Included with this sale are several replacement body parts, including new front fenders, used rear lower doors, new rear side panels & rear fender wells, plus other parts for the rusted out rear of the vehicle. Included also are replacement Toyota emblems, a replacement radio antennae, a wiper blade, and weather stripping & adhesive. What a great winter project, with much of what you need to restore an “original” vintage FJ-40! The front seats have been covered and are in good condition. The rear seats are original and have a few places where there a tears and worn areas. The windschield has a small crack and has some chip damage. We can deliver the vehicle to anyplace in the USA, and would do so for a negotiated fee, otherwise the responsibility for picking-up and moving the vehicle is the Buyer’s. We also have additional photos we can send, and will do so, if requested. On Oct-19-11 at 13:03:49 PDT, seller added the following information:On 10/18/11 I started-up the FJ-40. The battery was dead, (of course), so after putting the Charger on it for a while, I cranked the engine over a few times, then poured a bit of gasoline into the carb., and it started right up, and ran great. The engine sounded smooth, with no missing, and no vibration. I drove the FJ around the lot a few times, and again, no noticeable problems, other than the usual rattles from the doors - they need the weather seals replaced. The clutch, brakes, etc. felt strong, in good condition. The gauges all appeared to be working on the dash, with the exception of the oil pressure gauge, which showed a high oil pressure - I don't know if it is the gauge, or someother issue. I am sending a series of additional photos - in small batches, to expedite their transmittal. Notice, this FJ-40 is a 6 cylinder. The exhaust system appears to be in good shape. No exhaust smoke was noticeable, and the tires are in good condition - except for the spare - it looks OK, but is more worn and is low, and appears to have some weather "checking". All original parts, pieces, etc. appear to be on the vehicle, including the skid plates, heater, and center console - which you hardly ever find a FJ that is as complete as this one is - it is "original" in every way as far as I can tell. Yes, there are a couple of nuts and bolts missing, but for a vehicle that is over 36 years old, it is mechanically, I believe, in great shape.
