Vehicle Detail
RECENTLY APPRAISED FOR $50,000. (September 14, 2010) THIS IS A "MUST-SEE" CAR!!! Words and photos do not do it justice! This car was bought in rough shape in 2001 (from North Carolina), and was a project car for several years during which it was restored to an impeccable condition. I have foolishly spent close to $100K restoring this car (I have kept all receipts, but have been too afraid to add them all up!). It was recently appraised for half that amount, proving once again that it's much cheaper to buy a FULLY-RESTORED classic car than to restore it yourself (if I could only turn back time!). My eldest son is now in college, however, and I need to sell some toys to help cover the costs. So my loss will be someone else's gain. The car is immaculate with few flaws. I will try to detail everything here so that there are no surprises. Let's start with the flaws, then move on to the good stuff. FLAWS include: Very small nipple-type dent to top right of hood (the kind you get when mechanics close the hood onto a small tool). An easy fix, but worth disclosing. There is also a very small nipple-type dent on the passenger quarter panel (where something shifted in the trunk). You need to catch it in the light at the right angle to even see it, but again I don't want to "hide" anything from potential buyers. The speedometer/odometer does not work, nor does the gas gauge. The door "pull" knob on the driver's door is broken (a $5 fix). The headlight doors open remotely, but close only by hand. If you can handle these very minor imperfections, you'll be getting a car that you'd otherwise have to sell your house to build yourself. Please keep in mind that this is not a Concours car as I have enjoyed driving it down the road - as I'm sure the new owner will as well! Now for THE GOOD STUFF: ENGINE: Recently rebuilt 440 HP2 Magnum, by reputable engine shop in the Toronto area (that dyno-tests all new Chrysler Hemis), and driven only about 300 miles since. Cylinders bored 30 over. Block honed, piston to wall .0045". TRW forged pistons, forged Crankshaft - machined and magnafluxed, crankshaft rods and mains regrinded, 906 casting cylinder heads (machined for bigger valves and resurfaced), connecting rods reconditioned, polished, magnafluxed and shop-peened, w/ ARP rod bolts. Newly hardened exhaust seats. Brass freeze plugs. K-54 HYD 112' Mopar B Custom Racing Cam (by Engle's Manufacturing, Santa Monica, CA), race hydraulic Chrysler lifters, Melling HP oil pump. All brand new top-engine Mopar Performance components installed, including oversized valves. Large-volume Hemi oil pan. Rebuilt 600 cfm Holly 4bbl carb, silver-painted (high-temp paint, no peeling) Hooker headers, new 26" rad, new hi-torque Mopar Performance mini starter, Holley 110LPH electric fuel pump with fuel regulator. 4 bbl original intake manifold. Rebuilt brake booster. All new hoses, wires and cables. Stock 11/16" sway bar. Compression 9.5:1. Chrome coil bracket and chrome dipstick tube. Formed hood pad insulation with clips. New engine mounts, New battery, battery tray, restraining strap, and cables. New fan and fan spacer. New starter relay. New dash and engine wiring harnesses. New vacuum cannister. New firewall insulation pad. New washer fluid reservoir. Estimated horsepower: 425. THE ORIGINAL FENDER TAG IS AFFIXED! NOTE: This is NOT the original (numbers-matching) engine. It was originally a 383 car. However, this 440 came from another 1969 Dodge Charger R/T (Florida car). TRANSMISSION: Rebuilt 727 3-speed automatic (with stock convertor). New kickdown linkage installed. REAR END: Stock 3.23 gears. EXHAUST: Flow Master exhaust, chrome exhaust tips, dual exhaust, Hooker headers (wrapped). BODY AND CHASSIS: PST Polygraphite front end, KYB gas adjust shocks, Hood/fender turn signals, black R/T tailstripe, Charger SE nameplate badges, tail panel and front bumper grill "RT" badges. Converted to (power) disc brakes. BODYWORK: All body restoration is flawless, and was done using original or high-quality replacement pieces by reputable and skilled restoration experts. It was put on a "rotisserie", floor pans replaced and coated with "Rhino" coating to inhibit rust. Seven layers of paint by a professional classic car restorer (4 base, 3 clear?) gives it a show quality finish. Polishes up beautifully! RECHROMED bumpers and all chrome trim. All stainless trim professionally polished. INTERIOR: Original (survivor!) black leather seats in great condition!, SE package, original restored console, remote LH mirror, 3-speed wipers, Seatbelts immaculately restored by the famed SsnakeOyl, new black carpeting with sound deadener underlay (note: two very small holes intended originally for a dummy roll bar that was not installed, can probably be easily patched), new headliner, dashboard reconditioned, aftermarket oil-temp-tach gauges, all new sill plates and trim pieces, new chrome armrest bases, restored gauge faces and instrument panel, new sail panel boards, new glove box liner, new body plugs, new package tray and insulation pad, completely restored door panels, map pockets, and arm rests with original "Dodge" badge inserts, new turn signal switch, new dome light lens and cover, original near mint SE woodgrain radio bezel, new gas pedal, new brake pedal pad, new pins and bushings on the doors, new NOS side marker lights, NOS ignition and trunk lock sets, RECHROMED (two) exterior door handles, RECHROMED shifter knob. WHEELS AND TIRES: Vector rims (refinished and painted) with American Racing caps and BF Goodrich tires. AND THERE'S MORE!.... Original AM radio (near mint condition) with under-dash mounted aftermarket Sony AM/FM stereo CD-system and mounted speakers. Aftermarket VIPER alarm system. Protective car cover. Original Owner's Manual and case. All receipts and records pertaining to the car (including a partial history of ownership - it was built in Michigan, but driven in NC and VA). Full photo album showing the entire restoration process. Original shop manual for 1969 Dodge Charger. Original (sandblasted and painted to spec) jack. Numerous brand new parts including pins, bushings, weatherstripping, original '69 Charger decals, and all sorts of small incidental items. Uninstalled heater box available, as well as front wheel well mouldings with beeswax screws. Wolo musical air horn wired under hood. Complete professional appraisal report (dated September 14, 2010) - valuing the car (rather modestly, I think!) at $50,000. ...possibly more as I find it! I have been as honest as possible with this listing, and hope that sufficient detail has been provided. If you have any further questions, please email. Car is located in Belleville, Ontario, and must be picked up, or delivery arranged by buyer. Any costs associated with delivery are the responsibility of the buyer. Good luck, and thanks for checking out this auction! IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING PHOTOS: Please be aware that reflections in the shiny chrome bumpers of the car may appear as scratches in the photos. Rest assured that they are in mint re-chromed condition. Also, as the undercarriage photo shows, the gas tank has spots of surface rust - otherwise, the undercarriage is very clean. PLEASE NOTE: I have the car listed for sale locally and reserve the right to cancel this auction if it sells while the auction is running.
