Vehicle Detail
This 1960 Ranch Wagon is one of 27,136 produced. Sounds like a lot, but how many are left? Two door station wagons were not common in their day and even more rare today. I bought this wagon three years ago with the intention of restoring it, but my two Ford Starliners have taken all my attention during that time and I now realize I will not be able to restore it to the quality level that I insist on. If I can't do it right, I won't do it at all. The wagon is inside my shop and it has sat for three years without being driven. When I purchased it I installed new spark plugs, plug wires, points, condenser, distributor cap, fuel filter and air filter. I bought a new battery for it a few months ago. The wagon had not been started for three years, but with fresh fuel and a charged battery it fired right up. The mouldings on the body are in good shape. The wagon is very basic, 240 inch six cylinder, three speed manual transmission, nine inch rear axle, no power brakes, no power steering. The original radio is in place but does not work. Drivers door glass and driver side rear glass have cracks, but of course are easily replaced since they are flat glass. The car is solid and has a fold down rear seat. The previous owner replaced the rusted floors with new steel. The spare tire well is rusted and will need to be repaired. The previous owner repaired some areas above the rear wheel wells with bondo. All the lights, turn signals work. Wagon has new white letter 225X70RX14 tires mounted on 14X7" wheels. Brakes are good, and so is the steering. Previous owner painted the car with hot rod primer and sold it as a rat rod. It's a solid wagon that could either be restored properly, made into a cruiser or left as a rat rod. Purchaser is responsible for all shipping charges. I was told that the engine is probably a 223 inch six instead of a 240 inch since 240's weren't built until later years. I believe this to be the original engine. On Oct-10-11 at 12:44:37 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a no reserve auction
