Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a Beautiful Sage Green (L63H) 1977 Westfalia Deluxe Camper pop top with 53k original miles from California. If you have been looking for the nicest late model camper bus that is perfect and has all the original fuel injection like it should you have found it. This car was a beautiful restoration candidate to begin with as it was rust free. The bus has 1k miles since the restoration was completed. Yes the engine, trans, brakes, suspension, tires all have 1k miles on them since completion. We did it all. This vehicle was restored for one of our customers and close personal friends in 2009. Our customer wanted this camper to be top of the line and very comfortable all while keeping it as close to original as possible. The vehicle has around $35k invested into the project, and we believe it is one of if not the nicest 1977 Westfalia campers on the road. This camper was restored inside and out and was built to be a cross country driver. With that being said, a lot of money was invested into the body work and paint, motor, transmission, brakes, and suspension to bring them back to better than new quality. The owner, due to health reasons decided to sell this vehicle after a short ownership. We had the bus shipped originally from California to our shop to perform the restoration. We performed a complete disassemble of the camper in an out and rebuilt it to our customers requirements. This is not one of those $10-15k dollar busses that you see on ebay that say they are restored and original. This was a professional job and we took pride in rebuilding it to a high quality. Engine: The original 2.0 Type 4 fuel injected motor was rebuilt completely by Boston Bob in 2008. Shortly after Boston Bob passed away from cancer unfortunately but this engine carries his legacy. This is believed to be Boston Bob’s final type 4 motor rebuild before his death. Boston Bob has a reputation that is 100% in the vw community. He built his engines top notch and took some of his secrets to his grave, with subtle improvements to the stock heads, updated cam, and a fully balanced engine. These improvements yields a much better then stock motor. Bob’s motors have reliability, power, mileage and just overall run much better then the original motor would have. No more down shifts on hills. The engine runs the stock Bosch L-Jet fuel injection. All components of the system were replaced (fuel pressure regulator, injectors, afm, fuel pump, fuel hoses, vacuum hoses) . The engine also has a completely new F.I wiring harness with all new vw connectors. The starter and the alternator are both new as well. The engine shroud and all of the tin have been completely powder-coated in stock colors and makes this engine a dream to keep clean. The engine was broken in properly and is a dream to drive. Turn the key and it fires right up. A fuel injected bus properly setup makes for a powerful and smooth riding camper. Most other vw campers out there over the years were stripped of their fuel injection and replaced with a carb. Carbs work well, but leave a lot to be desired. Transmission: This camper has the 091 transmission (strongest and best geared of the bay window campers) transmissions. This is the transmission you want for a heavy camper and highway driving. The trans was rebuilt by Rancho Transmission in California. The entire shift linkage and all bushings were replaced as well as the clutch, balanced flywheel, throwout bearing and cv joints. Brakes: Completely new disc brakes in the front and drums on the rear. The front and rear brakes were rebuilt entirely.New backing plates, calipers, wheel bearings, wheel cylinders, pads, rotors, drums, shoes, emergency brake cables, and all associated hardware. Suspension: All shocks were replaced with Boge stock strut replacements. Interior: This interior like the rest of the car speaks for itself. Cabinets show no chips or cracks. Carpets, canvas and all curtains are brand new. Stereo: Alpine Ipod/Iphone/Cd/Mp3 player with alpine speakers. This stereo sounds great and is hard wired for an iphone/ipod. Truly an improvement over stock. Exterior: The paint is close to perfect on this vehicle. If you look hard you may find a scratch or two at the most. Its beautiful. All bumpers and wheels were repainted stock white. Included Accessories: Fiamma rear hatch bike rack (specially made for baywindow bus’s, great working and also very useful for holding a cooler or luggage off the ground when camping). Sliding, louver window and rear hatch bug screensFront parcel tray for additional storageEzy Awning that attached to stock gutters to help with rainy daysFull length front window curtain with snaps to offer privacy and low light in the camper while camping. Don't miss your opportunity to own this one of a kind vehicle.
