Vehicle Detail

1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet - ONLY 36,592 MILES - This is a 2 owner classic Porsche Carrera Cabriolet that I have owned since about 1990. It is in Near Mint Conditon with absolutely NO PREVIOUS PAINT WORK. The paint shines LIKE NEW! This car is my baby and I was never going to sell it...but recent circumstances in my life are forcing me to offer it to a new home. With all original paint, a clean CARFAX TITLE HISTORY (available on request) and only 36k miles, I honestly feel that it is ONE OF THE NICEST ORIGINAL UNMOLESTED 911 CABRIOLETS IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY! Eventhough I am in Michigan, the car has NEVER BEEN DRIVEN IN RAIN OR SNOW. I have a reprint of the factory build sheet which shows that this Porsche was built with the following factory options: -Guards Red Exterior -Black Leather Interior -Steering Wheel with Raised Hub -Factory Tonneau Cover (I also purchased a Factory Convertible Top Boot that comes with the car) -Standard Radio with Cassette -Central Locking System -Forged 16in Fuchs Alloy Wheels -Center Console -Cruise Control -Sport Shock Absorbers -Alarm System Back in about 1990, I purchased this Porsche from a local dealer where it was traded in by the original owner. It had around 32,000 miles on it. Since then this car has been been only driven by me and only on rare occassions. It was really more of a "garage queen" for me and had NO TRACK USE EVER. As a matter of fact, a medical condition prevented me from be able to drive a stick shift for about 7 or 8 years and the car sat covered in my garage. After my surgery and therapy in 2005, I was once again able to drive it. So I then had the car sent (via flatbed towtruck) to a local Porsche mechanic who went thru the vehicle from top to bottom. I spent nearly $6,000 on several items (from what I can remember, it needed battery, brake lines, hood shocks, oil return tubes, etc). I moved and I am still looking for this bill. I will gladly provide proof of these repairs, if I can find it. Since then it has been stored under cover in a heated garage. It sits on NEW BF Goodrich G-Force T/A 205/55ZR16 tires that have less than 500 miles on them. I have 2 car covers for this car - 1 light duty cover that does show some wear and 1 heavy duty cover that is brand new in the box. AGAIN - THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN ONLY RARELY - Probably ONLY ABOUT 500 MILES IN THE LAST 5 YEARS. Eventhough the car is in near perfect condition, it is over 25 years old and does have a few very minor issues. These are the 5 minor issues that I am aware of on the vehicle: 1) The rear window on the convertible top is a bit hazy and it has a very small crack that is about a 2 to 3 inches long at the rear passneger side edge (as shown it the photos). Honestly I have never driven this car with the top up, so I have no idea if any water even comes in thru this tiny crack. 2) The cloth cover on the rubber/cloth convertible top seals is faded and has flaked away in a few areas. This appears to be just a cosmetic issue as the seals still appear to be intact and the top appears to have no leaks. 3) The LCD display on the Blaupunkt Moneterey radio is not working. The radio was like that when I bought the car, but it never bothered me because when I drove the car I liked to listen to that beautiful Porsche exhaust note as opposed to the radio! 4) The hood support shocks seem a bit weak (again!). 5) And, to be really, really picky, in my opinion I would refinish the Fuchs alloys. Truthfully, I am being really picky about this as I have had several people say the wheels are just fine. They are in perfect condition with NO CURB RASH, but the black centers are faded just slightly and the lugnuts have some paint missing. I had always planned to have the rim of the wheel polished, the centers re-painted and have Porsche Colored Crest center caps added. Again, the items mentioned above are the only known issues with the car. Naturally, I would welcome and encourage anyone with a serious interest in this car come to inspect it for themselves or have it professionally inspected. Although I seriously need to sell this car now, I am not going to give it away. I will not disclose my exact reserve price, but it is a very reasonable and realistic reserve for a car of this condition and this low mileage. So the best answer I can give you is that THE RESERVE IS SOMEWHERE IN THE LOW 20's. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK BIDDING! Please feel free to CALL ME DIRECTLY at 586-980-1821 with any questions you might have regarding the vehicle. Ask for "Phil". On Sep-30-11 at 16:15:25 PDT, seller added the following information:IMPORTANT NOTE: The correct factory specified tire sizes are on the vehicle which are: FRONT - 205/55 ZR16 and REAR - 225/50 ZR16. These are new BF Goodrich G-Force T/A tires with less than 500 miles on them.On Oct-01-11 at 11:07:51 PDT, seller added the following information:ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : I have just discovered that although 4 oil return tubes were replaced at the last major service in 2005, it appears that there is now some oil leaking from the other 2 return tubes. It is an inexpensive fix (maybe around $400), but I wanted to disclose this after noticing it today.
