Vehicle Detail

1973 Custom Triumph 750 Tired Of All The "Cookie Cutter" Custom Bikes? Are You Ready For Something A little different? I can tell you for a fact that every time this bike goes someplace, it is extremely popular. People hurry right by those bizillion dollar store bought customs to get a closer look. Some will be trying to figure out where the shocks are, some will be reading the silly little sayings, some will be just digging the overall look, and some just shake their heads, but EVERYBODY smiles. If you are a serious buyer and have questions, skip the E-mail. Let's talk. Give me a call at 386-428-1953 This bike was not built by me, it was done by a close friend who passed away a couple of years ago. I met both him and the the same bike when he was one of my first customers at a custom motorcycle shop I owned in Daytona Beach 32 years ago. At the time it was a very lightly customized bike, and he rode this bike regularly until the early-mid-80's when he got more into Harleys. He still pulled it out and rode it once in a while, but mostly it sat. About 4 years ago, he decided to redo it, and although it still wasn't ridden much (he had a Road King for his main ride), it did get to go out on the town a bit. This is no distress sale. I don't have to sell it. I bought it from his family with the intention of riding it around town once in a while, but that doesn't seem to happen very much (I've got lots of other stuff to ride.) I would rather see it go to someone who will ride it. Notice I'm not playing games with a reserve price. If someone places the minimum bid, the bike will sell. From the red on one side, yellow on the other paint job, to the little humorous sayings lettered on it, you can see the guy who built it had a sense of humor. (Surprisingly, he tended to be somewhat sour and cynical in person, but I digress....) The bike runs great, and looks really good, but it is NOT a pristine show bike. It's a little rough around the edges. In a way, that's part of what makes it so cool... Now to the technical end of it. The bike started out as a 1973 Triumph Tiger 750 and that is what it is still titled as. The numbers on the frame do match the straight up, (no rebuilt salvage, liens etc.) Florida title. When he redid the bike, he installed a lower mileage 1978 Triumph 750 Bonneville (twin carb) engine with a left side shifter (73 still shifted on the right) that he had lying around. The engine runs great, and I know for a fact that it has almost no miles on new pistons and bore job. The head has obviously been freshly bead blasted, but I don't know what work was done to it. (Top end work was done long after the redo and has almost no miles BTW.) Note that the the original Tiger engine is NOT included with this bike. If you absolutely, positively have to have the original engine, I do have it, and it is possible I could be persuaded into parting with it for an extra fee, however it will not be cheap as I already have it earmarked for another project. The mileage stated for eBay of 2383 is NOT the original mileage. It is simply what the custom speedometer says. The bike has 19" front and 16" rear Harley mag wheels. The front brake is 73 Triumph,as is the front fork. The rear brake? 'Couldn't tell you. Both the multi piston rear caliper and the rear master cylinder are from some sort of sport bike. The floorboards are Harley, as is the rear brake pedal on the right side. The shifter was fabricated from who-knows-what, and features a heel and toe arrangement that has both shifters out of the way of your foot when resting on the floorboard. The tires, o-ring chain and sprockets were all new when the bike was redone and are excellent, however the chain does have some surface rust from sitting. The one of a kind mono shock rear suspension was fabricated using a Harley swing arm and single shock and linkage robbed from some sort of 4 wheel ATV. It is almost completely hidden and works surprisingly well. In fact, between the floorboards, tallish bars, and supple rear suspension, this is one of the more comfortable custom motorcycles I've ridden, even for a fairly big guy like myself. The twin high style headpipes were handmade, fitted with fishtail extensions, and then wrapped. The almost non existent rear fender was made from a custom Harley fender. TERMS OF SALE PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! This bike is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. However, once a bid is placed on the bike I will not end the auction and the auction will continue through to the finish. If you are truly interested in owning this bike and your strategy is to wait until the last seconds to attempt to snipe it, may I suggest at least placing the initial minimum bid so you are guaranteed that the auction will not end early. I will not in any way arrange shipping, nor will I crate the bike. The bike is for pick-up only, either by you, or by a shipper that you have arranged to handle it.
