Vehicle Detail

I've owned this car for one year and it has been an absolute joy to drive. I am sure I am going to regret selling it, but it's time to invest in other toys. You are looking at a 1986 Mustang GT 5.0. For a 25 year old car it is in good shape. It turns a lot of heads and sounds like a Mustang should when you step on the throttle. As you'd expect, there are some issues that go along with the car, but nothing that affect the drivability. SPECS: *163k original miles - Car still runs really strong and doesn't burn any oil - You'll see when you come test drive it. *5.0L 302 HO - 1986 was the first year for fuel injected 5.0s. The car turned 25 years old this year and still runs like a top*5 spd. manual transmission *Power seats and nearly new Kenwood head unit with auxiliary output. Car is wired to the trunk for a subwoofer. Sub not included. I just put new front speakers in about a month ago. *Interior is grey cloth with the red piping. Other than a small tear in the driver's seat and a crack in the dash pad, the interior looks real good. *Gauge pillar (Oil PSI and Water Temp) *Exterior paint is Oxford White and was redone several years ago. This is not the original paint color of the car.*Newly inspected - Passed inspection and did not need anything when it was inspected in July of this year. AFTERMARKET: *3.73 gears *Flowmaster Exhaust *Pro 5.0 shifter *Idler Pulley *Cold air intake *Saleen Wing *16 inch pony wheels powder coated white. Tires are Khumo Ecsta 235/25/16. They passed inspection in July, but I was told they would need to be replaced by next year. WHAT HAS BEEN REPLACED: Over the last couple years several parts have been replaced which includes: the water pump, radiator, wires, plugs, battery and MOST IMPORTANTLY the heater core - which are notorious for failing on these cars. It blows nice and hot air now. The parts for the air conditioning are there, but the air does not work. It just needs a recharge. I've also replaced lots of small stuff including the hydraulic trunk hatch struts, window weather stripping, door hinge pins and of course the oil every 3,000 miles with Castrol Syntec 10w-40. I also installed new 5.0 badges from the 2011 5.0s, which add a nice touch. WHAT'S BAD: As with any 25 year old car there are some issues. There are two rust bubbles on the car (see photos). Based on my inspection of the car there is no floor pan rust and everything else to my knowledge is rust free. The car does have oil leak that I haven't been able to track down. I bought it knowing it had a leak in October of 2010 and haven't had any problems. I suspect oil pan, but I can't be sure. If parked overnight, it will usually leave about 2-3 drops. The only other issue is that the paint of the hood does not match exactly with the rest of the car. I suspect the car was painted several years prior to the hood, because the hood looks brand new. Because it is the hood, it is hardly noticeable unless you're inspecting it closely. It does have a few dings, dents and chips here and there, but nothing I would consider major. FINAL NOTES It appears the previous owner was in the process of doing a Saleen clone when they sold the car. It has several Saleen aesthetic features (instrument cluster, wing and paint), but just isn't complete enough to be called a clone. The car does look sharp after it's cleaned up and I get a lot of compliments. I wash and wax the car religiously, and most of the time have it stored in a car port or garage. I am selling the car locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I will not ship the car, but will consider driving to meet the buyer. You are welcome to come look at the car anytime. Please contact me to set something up. I've been as honest as I possibly can about the car, but if you have any additional questions or would like to see the car please don't hesitate to call me at 717-507-4205. Thanks! Drew
