Vehicle Detail
VERY RARE CORVAIR BUGGY I have a Corvair turbo powered 4 seater dune buggy forsale. The original owner had the frame professionaly built in Ohio; at that point it was a rolling chassis with the engine installed. He moved to Central Florida in 1970, purchased the new body with plans of this being his retirement project. Now 41 years later I rolled this project out of his barn. The frame was custom built using Corvair front and rear suspension and a turbo charged Corvair engine. The "donor" car was a 1963 Monza 2 dr coupe that was his daily driver, it had a turbo engine and 4 speed transaxle. He had the motor "freshened up" to get ready for his project. I have a clear title for the car. He saved everything he thought he may need for the build from the donor car and there are soem miscellaneous extra parts. I'll include a list of what I've seen. The body is a 1970 fiberglass kit made by Allison Fiberglass in Daytona Beach Florida. The body was never mounted on the frame. It's a 4 seater kit with the windshield, hood and dash assembly. Here is a list of some of the extra parts.... extra Corvair 3 speed transmission, extra Corvair turbo and carberator, windsheild and frame (from the kit), VW fuel tank, Corvair fuel tank, VW tail lights and blinkers, Corvair tail lights, head lights and blinkers, Corvair turbo shroud, Corvair instrument cluster with ignition switch and guages, Corvair wiring harness, VW seat belts, Corvair seat belts, Corvair gas heater with blower motor, Corvair steering colum, shaft and wheel, Corvair shift linkage, Corvair radio, Corvair emergency brake setup, extra Corvair exhaust, 2 extra Corvair starters, Corvair windshield wiper motor and linkage, Corvair wiper switch with cigarette lighter, 2 Corvair "Spyder" emblems. There are other parts in boxes but I think these are the major parts. This car has sat in a barn for 41 years so it's not pretty. The fiberglass body is in great shape structurally but the finish will need some work. The gel coat is cracked and chipped in some areas. If you research Allison you'll find that they are desirable because of their thick hand laid construction. The motor has clean oil, and turns over freely. The belt is missing but the fan, alternator and pulley all spin freely as well. I acquired this car as a project for my two sons and I but we've decided to restore a VW Thing that has been in my family for years. I'd be glad to answer any questions I can. I'm not a Corvair expert but I know a couple Corvair people that know it all. This is a NO RESERVE auction. Someone is going to get a great deal on the project. Please call with any questions...Bob 386-804-9919. Shipping is YOUR responsibility. I will help load it if you arrange shipping. $500 is due within 48 hours through paypal and balance to be paid in cash when picked up with in 7 days.On Sep-22-11 at 06:42:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I have a clear title from the 63 Corvair.
