Normal.dotm 0 0 1 632 3605 LSA Associates 30 7 4427 12.0 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Selling my silver 2000 BMW 540i. It has the M-sport package, V8, 6-speed manual, and black leather. This car has been babied all its life. It’s always been garaged in the 6 years I’ve owned it. It has about 70,300 miles and is completely original. Sensational vehicle. I can send you a copy of the very clean Carfax that shows documentation of mileage and lack of any problems if you are interested. All maintenance is up to date. No repairs are currently necessary. This car has been extremely reliable in the 6 years I’ve owned it. I’ve only put 25,000 miles on it in that period, and that includes three trips of about 2,000 miles each. It is probably one of the lowest mileage 2000 540’s in the nation, and it shows. In the six years I’ve owned it, I replaced the mass airflow sensor, windshield, wipers, brakes, tires, and battery. That’s it. The windshield is new summer 2011 and the tires were installed in summer 2009 but they only have 2000 miles on them. I have all of the service records since I’ve owned it plus a lot more from the previous owners. According to the guy I bought it from and the Carfax, it was leased for 2 years, sold to owner No 2, and I bought it from owner No 3 (who replaced it with an NSX lucky guy). I also have some service records from owners No 2 and 3, and the Carfax documents when it was leased. I know the radiator, water pump, and cam speed sensor were replaced under warranty before I got it. Apparently these are common problems. As I said before, the car has been bulletproof for me. Engine and Transmission – Perfect. Engine starts great and performs as new. Same for clutch and transmission. The oil and filter are changed regularly. Only Mobile 1 oil. Accessories – Great shape. A/C blows very cold and the fan is strong and breezy. Power M-sport seats in black leather work perfectly. Seat heaters work and will burn your butt. Radio works great. I replaced the CD changer with an iPod hookup that interfaces with the radio controls, stores in the trunk, and sounds terrific. Rain-sensing wipers work awesome. Cup holders are typical BMW crappy/useless. One issue to note – some of the pixels on the dash readout between the speedo and tach are out. Please see picture. This is a common problem but I’ve never thought it was a big deal. I bought it that way. One of the very few flaws on this fine vehicle. The odometer shows fine and there are no issues there or on the radio readout. Wheels and Tires – Tires were purchased in July 2009 when the car had 61,100 miles on it, so the tires have about 9,000 miles on them. Lots of tread left. They are Falken ZIEX ZE-512. Sizes are 235/45ZR-17 front and 255/40ZR-17 rear. I researched these and found them to be an excellent performance per dollar tire. They perform super on the vehicle. Wet pavement performance is awesome. One issue to note – one of the rear wheels has three small blemishes on it from a prior owner. There is no structural damage to the wheel of any kind, but the finish has been damaged in about a 1 inch by 1 inch area on three areas of the rim. It’s been that way the entire time I’ve owned it and I’ve never worried about it. I have a picture of it so you can see that it’s pretty minor. It’s one of the very few flaws on this fine vehicle. There are no curb scars on any of the wheels. Suspension and Brakes – No issues, perfect. The brakes have huge stopping power. I had the brakes pads replaced and the front rotors changed out with cross-drilled performance rotors. Exterior – There are zero dents or door dings on the car at all. Exterior is almost perfect, save for a handful of nicks here and there. My friends say the car looks brand new. It does. Driving - If you know BMWs, you know the 540i with M-sport is the one to get. Powerful V-8 is no M5, but is super fast and gets relatively good mileage. It gives a true 29 mpg on the highway if driven close to the speed limit. This car is all about stability at any speed, all the way up to its 155 mph top speed (never been there). I’ve never tracked this car or abused it in any way. I have a new GTI that I use for a daily driver and for snow and mountain use. This Bimmer has truly been babied. I’d trust it to go across the country without hesitation. It needs nothing. Clear title. Fly into Denver and drive it home.
