It is NOT a clone. AND it has the original Matching Numbers “YS” Code 400 High Output Engine that came with it from the factory! It has the Original RAM AIR III “13” Code Heads that it came with from the factory. To my knowledge everything from the engine to the rearend is original to this car. When I bought this GTO it was running and driving but when I discovered it was a matching numbers beast under the hood just waiting to be unleashed, I decided to do it justice and completely rebuild it. Every step of the Engine Rebuild has been documented with Pictures, Film, and/or Reciepts. Every part of this motor was taken apart, cleaned, vital parts replaced, painted, and put back together. Every Gasket and Seal on the engine and Transmission are Brand New. I personally oversaw the entire project and took pictures of every step and kept all the receipts. Everything stated as NEW, has less than 100 miles on it. And because it is all fresh I never took it over 50 mph. The BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tires and PMD Center Caps are actually BRAND NEW and have 0 MILES on them! I spared very little on this restoration. It Sounds, Looks, Runs, Drives, and Shifts Great. This is an awesome example of a nearly rust free 1970 Pontiac GTO. When I got the car, there were very few dings and scratches and no obvious evidence of rust. I was told it was painted a few years before it was parked sometime in the mid 90’s. I did not have it painted because the paint is still in really good driver condition, it shines up nice with only a few imperfections. I believe it is the original factory color. This is just a testament to how solid this body is… hasn’t been painted in nearly 20 years, nothing to hide here. If you decided to paint it at some point, there should not be any body issues at all, this car is straight and just as solid as they come. I was also told this GTO sat in a climate controlled environment from the mid 90’s until sometime last year when I got it, and based on its condition when I got it, I believe it was well cared for even before that by the original owner. I have always kept this car in the garage even when the motor and transmission were out of it for a month or so. These automobiles are becoming harder and harder to find, especially in this condition and at this price! And even though I can not prove it, I do believe this car to be 97,000 original miles; I base that on the condition of the interior, exterior, underside, and the internal motor condition. Somewhere you would find the signs if it were a 200,000+ mile vehicle. The Heads were fresh when we removed the valve covers, no gunk at all even down to the oil pan. Again that is speculation but it is my opinion, my mechanics opinion, and the opinion of the guys at the Machine Shop that worked on the Motor and Heads. This is truly A Great Investment Opportunity. During the rebuild I was told that this Block had never been bored. They wanted to know if I wanted to bore it. I DID NOT have this engine Bored!! And it wasn’t about the money. There was just no need - First and foremost, its the ORIGINAL MOTOR and besides the pistons are already huge in this Pontiac “YS Code” 400 High Output Engine. I had everything took apart, cleaned, and put back together. But by not boring it, you still have that option available to you if you choose to do it one day. I love this Pontiac GTO but I have recently purchased a major project car that is in need of a lot of work… I wish they were all as simple as this one. So basically I need the money. The only thing I know of that this car needs is a new dash cover installed. I purchased a dash cover and it will come with the car. The dash pad is in really good condition. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! The top bidder will win this very original, freshly rebuilt, matching numbers GTO. Good Luck. I had to relist due to a gag bid. If you don't have the money please don't bid. I am listing this car locally as well and reserve the right to pull this vehicle if it is sale. On Sep-16-11 at 21:28:35 PDT, seller added the following information: I have discovered that this car has a very rare interior package... It has a sports PMD steering wheel with the automatic on the column that is supposed to shift itself if you drop it in 1 and kick it... it actually shifts through the gears on its own (haven't tested this but pontiac enthusiast have told me that it actually does it) but it also comes with Bucket Seats with the sports steering wheel and column shifter which is an extremely rare interior option package.
