Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1981 Chevrolet Corvette. The engine is the original 350 L81 with 109K miles, rebuilt and upgraded with Eldebrock intake manifold, headers, brand new Eldebrock carburator, dual fans, new belts, new hoses, new plugs, new wires, new distributor, new chrome valve covers, etc. New posi traction rear end that still has UPC stickers on them. There has been a lot of money put into the engine. The engine sounds strong but needs some attention from someone mechanically inclined. The motor starts with no issue but is leaking coolant from the exhaust. I have replaced all the hoses so I think it needs a head gasket or may even have a cracked head. The body is solid and in good condition with no damage or cracked fiberglass, never wrecked, but could use paint as it looks to be original and seems to have a couple of spots where the paint is faded and chipped. The interior is in good condition as well. Leather seats look brand new, all carpet and dash is intact. Carpet is seperating in a couple of areas but just needs to be retacked. Glass/mirrored T-tops and all glass is good condition with no cracks. Could use new weatherstriping. The tires are new with original slotted '81 Corvette wheels. Car starts and drives but will need to be trailered to new location as it will not hold coolant. With some time investment, this could be a really nice car. You will be hardpressed to find another corvette at this price. This has always been a southern car in AL or GA so no rust. The only reason I am selling is because I purchased this car from another ebay seller (sight unseen) and had the car shipped to me. The car was described as showroom condition but found not to be the case. I do not have the experience to do this type of repair. If you are a mechanic or know someone who is, you can get into this car at a really good price. Most of what I have found the car needs is simple minor things, mostly cosmetics other than the coolant issue. The AC does work, the wipers work, the lights work all the way around, but the headlight vaccuums do not raise and lower. You can do this manually so I just leave them up. The vaccuum hoses were probably disconnected when the new carburator was installed and never hooked back up. I have not attempted to trouble shoot. This car has plenty potential, though its not perfect, it is a great investment. NADA has car valued at: Low retail $15,000. retail $19,700. High retail $28,600. Please read the clean AutoCheck history report indicating no accidents. I have attempted to be as descriptive as I can to provide honest and accurate description of vehicle. Please email with any further questions. The reserve price is set low at much less than I paid and much less than what car is valued at.
